Fantastic quality, but overalls just not for me
One of the first decisions that you’ll have to make is between the one piece coveralls versus the bib overalls and the matching ice parka jacket. Although I tried different sizes of the one piece coveralls, I found that the overalls and ice parka to be much more comfortable and much more easy to put on and take off. I believe it’s very much just a personal preference, but I would suggest that you try both. The quality and the durability of the coveralls, just as is the case with the bib overalls and ice parka, is truly outstanding. The large brass zippers, brass buttons and brass rivets at stress points cannot be better. Also, the extremely heavy durable nylon shell is close to the ballistic nylon of my airline luggage, which has seen many hundreds of thousands of miles. I did not find the coveralls to be anywhere close to -50F, but in wearing them, I was relatively motionless outdoors. Clearly, the company has an algorithm which they use, which must be assuming a certain level of physical activity to match their temperature rating. The lesson, therefore, is to think about your physical activity, and if it is not going to be substantial, plan on wearing layers underneath, and, therefore, size up as appropriate. Although one piece coveralls are apparently not for me, do not let my opinion dissuade you, as they are excellent products, with an excellent design and the the highest quality materials and workmanship. I did find two things lacking, from a design perspective. That is, there were two things which I wish these would have had as part of their design. The first is exterior pockets. These have none. I truly love the deep exterior side pockets on the ice parka. The second preference I would have is for the hood to extend well forward of my face to keep the freezing wind out. Perhaps faux fur on the ends, also, would help. I feel that the hood design is more in keeping with someone who works in a refrigerated environment, as opposed to someone who is outdoors and in the high wind and low windchill temperature environment. Reminder: keep the tags on, or remove them without cutting them, so that you can reattach them before sending these back if your size doesn’t work or for any other reason. Lastly, customer service is outstanding, truly top notch. They located for me a 20% discount code. I have since found that the company is quite generous with making the 20% discount available to even those items which are on sale.
