Good potency of EPA/DHA, from small fish ( mackerel and anchovies ) in the southern hemisphere. Natural vitamin E tocopherol helps to preserve the oil freshness. And with enteric coating, there is no downside.

Has ammonia in the ingredients
Recent ingredients show that the enteric coating has ammonia in it. Definitely will no longer buy.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the product. Hopefully this additional information will be helpful. Ammonia is a substance that is created in the body as a normal part of protein metabolism and cellular activities, and our bodies have a mechanism to metabolize it. Ammonium hydroxide is used when creating enteric coated softgels which delay the release of the fish oil until after it passes the stomach (to help the consumer avoid fish burps). You may want to try this version of our Ultra Omega-3 that is not enteric coated (1665) plus this one that has the triglyceride form of fish oil plus vitamin D added (items 1663 and 1664).

Great stuff
Great product. Been using it regularly over 10 years now. The 2 to 1 ratio between the epa and dha fatty acids works well for me to control mood and bad attitude. Additionally I get heart health benefits from regular use.

Love Ultra-Omega-3 by NOW Foods
The taste is so mild that I bite through the capsule, chew a little, swallow the oils and spit out the capsule. I usually take two caps at a time though even one would be enough. This product has a great EPA/DHA content. Of coarse, like with any oils, it's best to buy it in winter or when it's cold outside. You don;t want them to sit in overheated trucks during transportation. REFRIGERATE IMMEDIATELY.(never freeze!!). I have a couple of bottles (with good exp. dates) in my fridge to last me through the year. I usually wait for a 25% off discount (doesn't happen often) and stock up.

Works fine, tastes horrible
I have taken this Omega-3 for several years, and as far as I know, it works like it is expected to. However, the last batch I ordered tastes perfectly awful! It is like licking a sardine can! I have to hold my nose while I swallow them! This has not been the case previously, so I don't know what has changed, but I sure wish it would change back!

I particularly like the enteric coating, the amount of EPA and DHA in each soft gel, and the fact that this product is molecularly distilled. This is the first fish oil product I've tried that hasn't caused fishy tasting burps. The cost is excellent, however I'm not sure of the effectiveness. So far I see or feel no difference in my health. Will continue taking this product and perhaps up the dosage to two soft gels a day.

Sometimes experience leakage
"While the ratio of oils is outstanding in this product, every now and then a bottle is shipped in which one of the capsules has broken and leaked into the others. This is due to the manufacturer and NOT Swanson Vitamins. I have also dealt randomly with the problem with Now Foods Krill Oil as well. A very smelly mess that makes me think twice before buying their fish oils."
