A: The same thing happened to me. I replaced the filter and the light continues to be red. Also and perhaps more importantly, I've had this less than a year and it already broke. The piece of plastic on the front of the filter with the company name on it came off and several small holes formed so anytime I use the filter water shoots out directly. This product is poor quality.
A: Warranty of PUR filters is of no use. They ask you to pay for the return shipping when there is any issue. This is same as the device cost.

When the filter has used at least 70% of its life, the light turns yellow. When the filter has used 100% of its life, the light will turn red.
