About the Author

Dan Steelman is an aviation historian, seasoned museum professional, and author. His passion for flight, especially military aviation, began in his youth after reading Captain Ted Lawson's classic Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. After earning a degree in history, Dan dedicated many fulfilling years to volunteering and working in museums focused on history, aviation, and aerospace. Over the course of his career, he cared for a wide range of artifacts, from dinosaur fossils to relics of the Hindenburg, as well as Apollo-era spacecraft, before retiring in 2021.
