The box is study, the pieces are nice, all included individually. Simple rules but need to learn the strategy to win. My kids have been playing it constantly and love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Ravensburger Othello board game in exchange for a review and now I’m convinced it secretly tests relationships. 😂 It starts off calm and friendly, but five minutes later you’re both plotting revenge over black and white discs. The game is super easy to learn, but wow, it gets intense fast! The quality is great, the flipping pieces are oddly satisfying, and it’s the perfect mix of strategy and chaos. 10/10 fun, competitive, and slightly dangerous for sore losers. The game also has great storage to make for an easy clean up afterwords. This is the perfect board game to bring with you on a trip or for a cute date idea. I would definitely recommend!

The box itself is solid and compact so it makes it easy to put everything back without wrestling with it. The components feel well made, the board is solid and the discs feel nice and heavy, not cheap plastic. My friend and I learned the rules in roughly a minute, thinking it was just a simple little game. In fact, I was winning nearly the entire first game until a single move flipped an entire row and he took the lead. That's when we realized the tagline of the game, that it takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master, was no exaggeration. It has since worked its way into our regular rotation, partially attribute to its versatility. It’s simple enough for kids to learn yet the strategy is deep enough to occupy adults. The box is also portable so it’s easy to toss in a bag and take to a friends house. It’s exceptional value in terms of money spent. I would recommend this for friendship building.

You know how it is—I love my boys to death, but after a full day of trying to get them to eat the kale in their organic chicken nuggets and then herding them through their coding club homework, my brain is totally fried. I need something for "mindful winding down," but also something that's, like, actually fun and quick. Enter Othello. It is literally a minute to learn, and the games are only about fifteen minutes, max. That's the perfect amount of time for a quick, competitive little mind-reset before my evening Pilates or my second Savasana of the day. The quality of the Ravensburger one? Chef's kiss. It's got that nice, slightly velvety board and the reversible black and white discs feel so solid. It even has these little drawers on the side for storage, which is so great because, you know, I refuse to have clutter throwing off the feng shui of our minimalist living space. Plus, you have to keep the pieces out of the reach of my furry babe. She's so committed to her high-protein, clean diet—but those little disks probably look like a rogue, unsanctioned snack to her. The actual gameplay is so simple, but it gets those little gears turning in my head. You're just placing your black or white disc to "outflank" your opponent's pieces, which makes them flip over to your color. One minute you're crushing it, and the next, your opponent's move flips half the board, and you're like, "Wait, what just happened?!" The lead changes constantly. I love that it teaches the boys about strategy—like, they have to think two or three moves ahead, not just about the immediate flip. It's a great little brain booster that isn't another screen. And when I beat them (which I totally do, because I play aggressively and always go for the corners—it’s like the yoga for my competitive side), I feel like a total intellectual warrior. It’s just a super clean, classic game. No drama, no long setup, no batteries required. It’s perfect for a quick mommy-and-me session, or honestly, even for my husband and I to play after the kids are down and we're sipping on our sparkling water before our ten o’clock bedtime.
