Red Sparrow (4K/UHD)

A movie made for adults that seems to be lacking in many films these days. Jennifer Lawrence is spectacular in this movie.

Included digital copy does NOT redeem in 4k. There is one tiny, unclear warning on the back of the box among a bunch of cluttery text, but that's not visible to us here at all. Fox intentionally misrepresents this product and bundles an HD-only digital copy with this package. The exact quote from Fox support when questioned on a redemption that doesn't match the otherwise advertised resolution was "The redemption included with this product is intended as HD." The phrasing on the back of the case is "Digital version may not be available in 4k." MAY NOT is very different from "will redeem in HD." Aside from being placed where it's unlikely to be read, this supposed "disclaimer" is unclear and implies that some vendors actually may actually provide the correct resolution.

First of all, I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence. I think she's the Meryl Streep/Bette Davis of this current generation. She always gives 100% when she performs and this movie is no exception. The story appears upfront and forward from the start. Most of it takes place in Russia. However, as it unfolds, you begin to wonder if everything about the plot could be so predicable when the film takes a sharp turn; full of surprises. I thoroughly enjoyed the pace and excitement of the film. It is NOT for children under 16, not at all. The story has adult themes that only adults can understand along with brief full frontal nudity both male and female. That said, the film is also very deep in its characters, full of political intrigue, spies, and excitement. I loved it - one of those "OH!" endings that will knock you out!

For the price, it was just right.
