Q: Is there a water bottle holder that can be used with this bike? It's the only thing missing.

submitted by Sarah - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello Sarah! There are water bottle mounts that would fit this model. Thanks for reaching out!

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: No there are no water bottle holder or cage mounts on this bicycle size. Very disappointed to figure that out once we got home and road it. There are is not a good place on the frame for any aftermarket ones to strap on, we have bought several with no luck.

submitted byLove bikes not this one - 22 days ago
  • A: No. The manufacturer didn’t consider that women need water while being active.

Q: Description indicates bike has mechanical disc brakes, but details indicate linear brakes. Can you please clarify and correct the error? Thank you!

submitted by Chicky - 6 years ago
  • A: They’re linear brakes.

submitted byNeko - 1 year ago
  • A: The brakes on this bike are linear pull brakes on the front and back wheel. Thank you.

  • A: Hi Chicky, This bike has linear pull breaks. The copy is being updated now. Thanks!

Q: Can you adjust the handlebar height?

submitted by Kathy - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Kathy! Most of our models comes with one of two different types of stems. A threadless stem, which can be adjusted forward and backwards, and a quill stem, which can be adjusted up and down. This specific model has a threadless stem so it can not be adjusted up and down to adjust the height.

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 4 years ago

  • A: Hi Kathy, An adjustable stem allows the handlebar to be adjusted to fit the rider. Thanks!

Q: Is there space for a water bottle on this bike? How many gears does it have?

submitted by Jean - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Jean! This is a 21-speed model. Depending on the type of bottle, there should be room for one on this bike.

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 4 years ago

  • A: No there is no good place for a water bottle holder.

Q: How do you adjust the seat height? Do you need a tool?

submitted by Pepper - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Pepper, The Schwinn Trailway uses a quick release clamp to adjust the height, so you will not need any tools. Thanks, Alex

Q: There is a 7+ lb. weight difference between the two bicycle colors. Is this an error in description or is this because the bikes are actually rated for different size passengers?

submitted by Heidi - 7 years ago
  • A: Oh, yes, looks like there's a typo in the details tab of the purple-colored version of this bike. Weight is listed as 41.9 lbs. instead of the correct 34 lbs., which the gray one is listed as.

submitted byBriGuy - 6 years ago
  • A: The assembled weight of both bikes is about 34 lbs. The shipping weight is about 42 lbs for both. The rider weight is up to 250 lbs. Thanks.

Q: What size bike would a 5'2" woman get?

submitted by DMo - 9 years ago
  • A: Hi there, I just saw this. I am a 5'1.75" woman with short legs and I know your struggle. I just picked this bicycle up at my local target after my old bike got stolen :(. Anyway, with the seat at minimum height the bike fits me just fine, so it's probably fine for other ~5'2" women. At fancier bike shops we could get a smaller frame, but for cheap Target bikes we're stuck with trying the different 28" women's and seeing what fits. Sadly, I'm yet to find a "men's" bike that I can ride due to my shortness.

    submitted byMad360 - 8 years ago
  • A: Hi DMo - Our bicycles fit most adults. Everyone has a different level of comfort and style. If size is a concern, I suggest swinging by the bike rack on your next shopping trip to Target and trying some of our bikes out for size.

Q: Can I add a basket to the front of this specific bike model?

submitted by DSM - 1 month ago
  • A: Yes. Although we do not make a basket specifically for this model, most aftermarket baskets will work just fine.

Q: If the bike gets scratched, what paint color touch up would be best? Is the finish satin, gloss or matte?

submitted by Lucian - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi. Unfortunately, we do not stock or sell touch-up paint. The way we apply colors does not match to a standardized color system. We essentially create a custom color scheme for each bike. Thanks!

    Terrible assembly

I purchased and returned this bike at 4 Target’s before dealing with one whose assembly or quality issue we could try to fix ourselves. They all made noises that were not fixable by experts. The brake on the one we dealt with was very clearly too loose and doing nothing. After time and money to fix that, during the first ride, the gears did not work properly and the chain fell off going uphill.

    Terrible shofting on multiple bikes

This bike does not shift correctly, even after taking the brand new bike to a bike shop to fix, THEY couldn’t get it to work correctly. After a return, the second bike also doesn’t shift! Schwinn offers basically no support. Returning.

    Do not buy Schwinn!

Crappy product and no support from schwinn. Bike wont shift and when it does - constantly clicks. The bike is brand new and they said if the derailleur needs to be replaced, I have to do it myself or pay a repair shop to adjust or replace them.

    Not worth the hassle.

I absolutely loved this bike at first. The seat is amazing and it rode so smoothly. After a few more rides, the handle bars and gears became major issues. I brought bike to a local bicycle shop and had it tuned up. First ride, and instantly the handle bars were loose again and the gears were back to being an issue. I can't shift up or down smoothly, and a lot of times it feels like the chain will fly off. Pedaling is clicky and noisy at times. I rode for months and months but with the gears being an issue, what used to be an easy ride, was extremely difficult.

    Very nice

Very nice bike for the price. Most of the bike has the blackened coating which eliminates rust on typical chrome / metal. The adjustments make it suitable for a typical adult female. You don't want a 26 inch because you want to fully extend your legs while peddling.

    Cute but HUGE

I wonder if Schwin does research on the average size of women. This bike is Big Foot tall. Uncomfortable and awkward due to its size. This is a good bike for a tall woman or a med-tall man. Even the average man is 5'9; women: 5'4". Sad I have to return a bike. Hassle.

This is my first Schwinn. My other bike, Infinity Boss was stolen and I needed a bike for transportation. Target had this bike available already assembled. The first time I rode it, it felt so smooth like silk. This is going downhill and uphill on uneven pavement. Second time riding it felt wrong. I adjusted gear but it does not grip pedaling downhill. Also the tires are already deflating. I inflated tires and tried this again. Still having issues espeically changing gears. My Infinity changed gears very well. This bike does not. Tires seem to be deflating again. Strange cause it rides uphill very well. I notice issues going downhill.

    Extra Costs

Good bike however, it was not assembled correctly and after riding it just 3 times it cost me $100 to have it fixed. Not sure if I would have had a better total deal and a lot less hassle buying from a local bike shop.

    Want to like it

Two short rides (before and after adjusting the limit screws) and can not get the front derailleur to shift properly when riding. My neighborhood has a bike station and I'm able to get it to smoothly shift on the rack. But take it on the road and it is back to the same problem. Reading other reviews this doesn't seem like a unique case. I want to like it but it may be going back to the store.
1 reply from SchwinnCustomerSupport team - 2 years ago
Hi. We're sorry to hear this! We would be happy to send any replacements needed for the damaged components, along with steps for the adjustments. This type of limitation can happen when the rear derailleur is out of adjustment (either the cable is a bit too tight, or the lower pulley is bent a little too close to the spokes and gets caught.) While this part is set in- the factory, it can shift/bend during shipping or with an extra big bump or fall throughout your adventures. For this reason, the suggestion to check the position of your rear derailleur and instructions for adjustments are included in your owner’s manual. This is considered general maintenance and adjustments for your bike to keep it in good condition. Please reach out to our Consumer Care Center or Direct message us your information on Facebook, Instagram, or twitter and we'd be happy to assist! We can be reached at 800-626-2811 Monday-Friday 7 am-6 pm CST. Warm Regards.

    This bike rides amazing

I build bikes and ride tons of new and used bikes every week, just bought this one new off of someone for my short commutes to save in on gas-and it rides AMAZING. I honestly prefer the comfort of cruisers myself, but for a hybrid this one beats them all in my book!! no issues at all with it it's 100% perfect. and this is not a fake review either lol!!

    awful bike

I bought a Schwimmer hybrid 2 yrs ago and after 1 ride I got a flat. filled with air, got another flat. I noticed quickly that there was a gap from the tire to the metal wall expelling air. I do not exceed a weight limit it's clearly an issue with the way it was built. I deciding to give this model a try becusse really it's all I can afford for hybrids and don't want to assemble on my own and target assembles if you buy in store. after one ride, another flat. filled the tire with air for 10 minutes and nothing. also had same issue with gear shifting. awful. don't even know what I'm supposed to do! so upset. I need this for transportation and the wheel is flat! it won't fill up and ot doesn't need a patch.

    Heed Reviews

I've had this bike for 45 minutes. Picked it up and left the store in a rush. Got home and tried to ride the bike, but it doesn't pedal forward and the chain is misaligned. Called Schwinn and they advise me to return this immediately because it wasn't properly assembled correctly (said it's most likely a crankshaft issue.) Terrible experience!
