About the Author

CARLOS GUTIERREZ is a Cuban immigrant who rose from selling cereal out of a Kellogg's van to become the youngest CEO in the company's history. He served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce for George W. Bush and Vice Chairman of Citigroup, and has held board positions at Occidental Petroleum, GLW Corning, and The Woodrow Wilson International Center, among others. Gutierrez was also the founder and chairman of Global Political Strategies and a cofounder of EmPath. He is a regular commentator on CNBC.
