Modern setting works big time!
I'm one of those pretty much stuck on the concept of keeping stories in their original place and period. As such, I was prepared to criticize Sherlock from the moment Season 1 hit the screen. Thirty seconds was enough to get me hooked. The characters and writing are stellar. Pacing, humor, and action are all on point, never losing the soul of Conan Doyle's original creation. I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've watched all 3 seasons. Can't wait for Season 4!

BRILLIAN
BBC did an amazing job with Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as John Watson are simply brilliant. And Andrew Scott as Moriarty is amazing. This show is well written. This is a modern day version of Sherlock and it is simply BRILLIANT. Season two is the best season....

Will leave you anticipating Season 3
This series is addictive, fast paced and vibrant. I'll admit it, I'm hooked. I'm looking forward to the Season 3 episodes which have only recently come out. A modern day Sherlock with a definite edge...and Watson and Lestrade aren't so bad either. :)

This is one great take on a classic character!
I happened across this series when it was being shown on Masterpiece Theater and instantly loved it. It has all the quirkiness of the original Sherlock Holmes and gives you a new take on the origin of the crime-fighting duo. Completely updated, but retaining all of the atsmosphere of the Victorian novels. The only drawback of these two collections is that they may be all that there is going to be of this incarnation. Both the stars of this series have moved on to the big screen, both are in "The Hobbit" and Bernard Cummerbach, I know I've probably mis-spelled his name, is playing the bad guy in the new Star Trek movie coming out this spring. Do yourself a favor and get both seasons today! You won't be sorry you did.
