Book Synopsis

This book is intended for parents and grandparents of college-aged children, particularly those with daughters preparing for college. As a parent, I remember sending my two sons and daughters to college a few decades ago. Back then, the college experience was very different from what it is today. Parents were more excited, as their children's acceptance into college symbolized the beginning of their young adulthood. There was also less anxiety among parents and grandparents. We believed our kids would be safe and secure on campus as they pursued their studies.

However, times have changed, and recent events have significantly transformed society. Our children have grown up learning about active shooters and believe there is nothing that can be done about it. There have been several threats in public places, such as churches in Charleston and the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and other national-level incidents. Hence, I wanted to start a conversation about personal safety by writing this book. We need a guide that can teach our children how to be more vigilant, stay safe, and avoid any harm that may come their way.

This book aims to alleviate concerns regarding your child's college experience rather than causing anxiety or apprehension. Its purpose is to offer insight and knowledge to aid your child in navigating the challenges they may encounter during their four to six years at college. As you go through this book, remember the significance of having open communication with your child so they can feel at ease discussing any topic or issue they may face. Moreover, by providing safety measures, this book prepares them for any situation they may encounter, such as interactions with peers and instructors. Investing time in reading this book with your college-bound child will help them transition into young adulthood and beyond with peace of mind. This investment's ultimate benefit or returns will be multiplied a thousand times over. My goal is to help prevent heartbreak and tragedy. So, let's begin the journey.

The body will not go where the mind has not already been.
