SOG - Powerlock

I have owned a power lock for 25 years. I wore through the old leather case but not through this multi tool. It has seen years of hard use and abuse working around trucks and heavy equipment. I absolutely love the geared jaws that never stay stuck. I definitely recommend SOG for anyone looking for a simple reliable multi tool.

Excellent tool. Well made. Seems like it will last. I use a multi tool most every day for one thing or another. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the belt clip on the pouch. It popped off my belt several times in the first few days. I’d feel way more secure if it was a loop and not a clip. I took a very small self tapping screw and screwed the bottom of the clip solid. Now I can slide my belt thru and it stays.

I've been a fan of SOG tools for a very long time. I LOVE! the multitool, I recommend it over any other on the market to anyone I come into contact with who is looking to purchase. The quality is second to none. I've had the same one for over ten years now and had have no complaints.

If you want to do work everyday and have the most powerful pliers you can get, this is the tool. Just know that with hard use, the pivots will eventually wear out and you'll have to replace them after 2-3 years of hard work.

I'm keeping the multi-tool for the knife, the saw, and the pliers. The scissors absolutely do not cut at 50% of the distance from the pivot to the tip, and I needed this feature to trim skin off a lesion I sustained. I ended up going to the doctor to have it cleaned up. Really too bad. The scissors won't cut a plastic wrapper unless you are at the root or close to it. This was the situation when I first wanted to use scissors. Very disappointed. I'm going to try carrying a Suisse Army knife all the time as I did when I was a young sailor, and for the most part, I'll leave the pliers at home. I had a problem with the metal file about 10 years ago - it had no more cutting edge than a fingernail file. I hoped things had improved at SOG since then. But I need the compound leverage pliers, so I bought them in a version that might possibly serve me for other tasks. I also noticed that the wire cutter on the pliers had a dull spot on the edge. C'est la vie.

I had an Army issued Powerlock a number of years ago and unfortunately lost it. I've missed it ever since. My good fortune had a friend purchase a new one for me for Christmas. It was like being reunited with an old friend! These tools are solid and rock solid dependable. I can't recommend this tool highly enough!

I have yet to find the perfect multi tool - this comes close. The option to swap tools helps get it even closer, even though I have never had to because the number and variety is ideal for my needs. This is my second powerlock. The first has been put through ten+ years of vigorous use and is still functional. It's only retired because of the black Friday sale. While I appreciate the deal, I would have gladly paid full price because it is worth the money when compared to other companies' products/prices. The one handed open/close and mechanical advantage of the gears puts SOG above other brands and I recommend them to all of my coworkers who are looking for, or already have, a multi tool.

Needed another multi tool for a vehicle. I have several brands with similar feature/functions. This is a good quality basic unit.

This is a wonderful tool. It took a few days before I could get to use it. I discovered a fence problem in my pasture. The "Power lock..." was the only tool that I happened to be carrying. I fixed the fence and used a few tools found on this knife. It's a great tool. My 79 yr.old fingers had some difficulty accessing tools and it is the heaviest multi tool I have ever carried. I wouldn't want to part with it. My fingers will learn what to do and I will continue to "pump iron," to adapt to the weight. I highly recommend this multi tool.

Been a multi-tool guy since 1990. Sog Powerlock is by far the most durable and funtionabable tool I ever had. Was working plumber and HVAC for 35 years, and used everyday, many times a day, and have no complaints. You will wish you would have got one a long time ago

I got this right before I started my training at Camp MacKall 25 years ago. It was a big purchase then, I didn’t have a lot of extra cash. It made it through the military, then as a paramedic, then as a bartender (you’d be surprised how often it came in handy). Around our rural homestead (10+ years) I carry it everyday, and it’s a rare day I don’t use it. Finally, while trying to bend a latch working on the fencing, one side of the pliers snapped off. I was crushed, it’d been my companion for a long time. I’m back on the site now ordering another one.

I had one of these for well over 20 years. It's still going!! I bought a new one and gave my old one to a buddy.

Best of breed! the power lock and cam features are unmatched. Also, makes a great gift!

Beautiful multitool. Basically a polished stainless steel sculpture that you can carry with you. Not only do I have a pocketful of tools if I happen to need one, but also, I find myself admiring the sculpture-like quality of it. This one is definitely in my EDC rotation. I go back and forth regarding "what I am carrying lately".

Great product, best one handed opening on the market

Very good build quality. I thought the handle covers would get in the way, but they make things much more comfortable and keep the tool from closing on your fingers or opening accidentally. Pliers and cutters are the best I've ever used. I like this style sheath better than the loop over design. If you use the pliers and cutters the most, this is the tool for you. If you need all the other tools, you will have to choose which ones are most important to you.

I received my SOG when i was serving in the Navy in 2005 and it quickly became my best friend. Sadly I lost one of the metal guards that go over the individual tools on a deployment and since than this little tool has followed me and hurt my hands every time I have used it since. I cant bear to part with this but I cannot find where to go to buy replacement shields (not sure what they are called) searched the site but no luck.

Lost the first one I had after 10yrs. and liked it so much I bought a new one. The grip strength of the pliers, the sharpness of the saw, the scissors, the wire cutters, and crimpers make this the most versatile multi-tool around.

It's been a few decades since I bought my OG Leatherman multi-tool. Finally decided to take advantage of improved engineering/new generations. This model is about 3/4 size of the old Leatherman, but designed to be much more comfortable to use. So far it is exactly what I needed. I appreciate the well designed belt pouch, too. I work in theatre and on films and often can't bring a large tool bag on set. This tool covers 50-percent or more of my needs and is always with me - a huge plus. The Powerlock is a winner!
