Q: How many rooms can one amp sound? And do you need a receiver to connect it with wired speakers?

A: Hi Ttk, thanks for reaching out about Sonos Amp Wireless Hi-Fi Player (Black) The Sonos Port is a non-powered music zone module. In other words, it's a digital music player that connects to a separate amp, which in turn drives your ceiling speakers or outdoor speakers. The Sonos Port requires a separate amplifier. A: The amp can connect two pair of speakers played at a moderate volume or one pair of speakers if you prefer to play loudly. The Sonos Amp IS a "receiver" in that it's a self contained internet music streamer. Once speakers are connected, all you need is to download the Sonos App and link your internet music service provider's log-in credentials and you're listening to music.
