Description
The Sony SEL70200G is a versatile 70-200mm lens designed for Sony Alpha cameras, offering an angle of view ranging from 34° to 12° 30'. This compact lens combines state-of-the-art optical design with the classic Sonnar concept, featuring a bright F2.8 maximum aperture for excellent low-light performance. It incorporates three double-sided aspherical elements that minimize aberration, ensuring stunning contrast and resolution across all apertures, while the renowned T* lens coating contributes to natural color reproduction. Circular aperture blades create pleasing bokeh effects, with an almost perfectly circular aperture from wide open to 2 stops closed, enhancing defocusing. Sony's Nano AR Coating technology effectively suppresses reflections, delivering high-quality images. Additionally, ED and Super ED glass elements tackle chromatic aberration, maintaining contrast and color quality. Aspherical lens design reduces spherical aberration and overall lens size, with advanced aspherical elements ensuring precise image accuracy. A focus hold button allows locking the lens at a desired focus distance, and you can assign the preview function for limiting the focusing range during AF operation. The Sony SEL70200G is a top-tier lens for professional photographers seeking outstanding image quality and control.

Having the 70-200 f2.8 Mark II, I was reluctant to pick up the new F4 version. Having used it for a couple of weeks I am extremely impressed in the compact size and full features this lens provides. My images are tack sharp, and I’m able to get the maximum frames per second that my Aii and A9iii provide. It’s the perfect lens to take on a hike.
JUST PERFECT

I have had this lens now for 1 1/2 years. I love it! I am using it more than I would have thought. I use it for landscapes and urban scenes and it allows me to get tight and close shots of many items to keep my photos simple without clutter or confusion. Even at 2.8 or at 16, the results are beautiful!
Don't get the 2.8 version.

I can't believe the sharpness. I'm amazed at how a lens this big can be that lightweight and sharp. I haven't taken it off the camera since. It's one of the best pieces of glass I've ever used and it's incredibly affordable.
Great Zoom!

This is my first "expensive" lens, I had a Tamron 70/300 lens and I liked it - I thought the build quality was good and the results were fine. Then I got the SONY 70/200 and straight away it was in a different league. The build quality is unmatchable, if Rolle Royce made lenses, this would be it. I live on a bit of rock poking out into the Bristol Channel, we get some outstanding sunsets and sunrises, I've taken thousands of photos of these, people liked them. I took some with the SONY lens and shared those, everybody could see the difference, vivid oranges and reds, the orange reflects on clouds, the sun's reflection spreading across the water. I knew straight away I'd never use the Tamron again, I sold it a week later and now I'm hoping to upgrade to the f2.8 version of this lens.

I researched and found both 70 to 200 lenses, and at first I bought the other one. But I regretted it, I really wanted the macro more than the extra speed. I returned it, and I am very glad, the other lens was faster yes, but quite a lot bigger and no macro. And the camera has eight stops of image stabilization, and noise reduction on the computer is magical. So I’m satisfied with the speed of this lens as well. I hope it’s ok to leave this with no photographs, I am learning to use this by getting birds in focus, do you really want to see a goldfinch on my feeder?

Always skeptical when choosing a Lens but the Guys at the Sony Centre in Falkirk were on the ball and couldnt have been more helpful and explained everything and you can see the difference with the standard lense to the FE 70-200mm F4

I wanted a compact travel zoom that did it all. I believe that I've found it. This lens is everything that every reviewer liked about it. Small in size, fast focusing and sharp. The close-focusing capability sealed the deal for me.

This lens produces the absolute best pictures I have ever seen. It's also compact so I can take it with me. With the 1.4 extender it is great for macro shots. My favorite lens of all times.

I bought this lens just a month ago, but i already falling love with. it was my dream since its came out many years ago, but i could'nt afford one until now. the lens itself not to heavy, not to big. easy to handle. the oss is great 1/10 by hand held and the image is still not blurry. The image quality is excellent. Focus is very quick, silent and accurate.

I bought this lens about 9 months ago and have used it extensively with my a7lll to shoot air shows, vacation photos and wildlife. I am an experienced amateur photographer, but have gotten serious about photography after I retired. The lens is compact, not as heavy as my Sony SEL200600G lens and has always focused quickly and quietly for me. I pair it with my SEL24105G for a full range of options when shooting.

Great lens! I used it to capture the Broken Arrow Band experience as one of their photographers. I've since moved on to take shots of FSU Marching Chiefs and The Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps. My shots are amazing. I can catch everything I need from a distance.
