Book Synopsis

Sometimes, the only hope is the enemy.

Leif Metcalfe is done waiting for answers and seizes control, a move that comes with a high price and a deadly risk: teaming up with the enemy. He can only hope that what he uncovers will heal the wounds he's inflicted on those he loves.

Iskra Todorova believes Leif is on a collision course with death and knows firsthand the irrevocable cost of that path to the soul. While trying to protect her daughter and intervene with Leif, Iskra is forced to set her sights on the man behind the evil organization ArC--Ciro Veratti.

Torn apart by injuries and opposing views on how to handle Leif's act of treachery, team Reaper hunts one of their own. The only thing they agree on is not stopping but starting the final battle prophesied in the Book of the Wars.

Couldn't get enough!

Kendig had me holding my breath from the very first page. To be honest I feel like I’ve been holding it since I read the last chapter of Kings Falling, which is the previous book in this series. Soul Raging had me questioning everything I thought I knew about Reaper, a team bend on protecting people from threats they’ll never know existed. But what happens when they worry that one of their team members might be one of those threats. Trust is hard to earn, but all to easy to shatter. Can Leif show his team that he’s doing what needs to be done without telling them everything? I could not imagine the twists and turns this story took. Crazy and terrifying scenarios that left me reeling and yet I couldn’t stop reading. Kendig is obviously the master of suspense, and I love that I can never guess how a story will turn out. Let me tell you, she’s left me heartbroken before, and that keeps me nervous and hopeful until the very end. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Military Suspense. There is just the perfect amount of romance mixed in. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Epic Conclusion

Epic conclusion to the Book of the Wars. Lief Metcalfe is searching for answers to his missing past and will stop at nothing until he finds them. It's a race against time and across continents to find the truth. This book is full of action and suspense, a roller coaster ride, never knowing who the enemy is. Excellent ending to this great series.

OMG! This book was everything I'd hoped going into the end of this series/trilogy!

I will admit to being slightly anxious/worried about things (especially Leif), after the ending that was Kings Falling. There were also some personal things going on that were effecting my ability/want to go through and read things. But then I saw a comment Ronie Kendig made regarding writing a fallen hero and somehow, I just knew things were going to turn out mostly alright. I did find myself the slightest bit frustrated at how easily the team even thought about considering Leif might turn traitor. Granted, they almost immediately dismissed it, but even the momentary doubt bothered me slightly. I was glad that the team welcomed him back with the familial relationships they'd had, even though they were still admitting they'd been hurt by what happened. I did like Cell's thing when they were on the Seneca, it felt like, while he was still mad about what had happened, he'd still started to forgive Leif. And was wanting to give him a reason to come back. I did like Iskra's pointing out that if he had meant to turn on them, things would have been a lot worse. Her momentary lapse she had when she got the satchel was understandable, but at least she acknowledged that she'd made a mistake. And she was able to use it to kind of start a conversation with Leif. Dru kind of surprised me. I'd figured he'd known a lot more about what was going on, but there were clearly reasons he was having to take all the back roads to figure out what was really going on. I was a little surprised at Braun, although I had suspicions. It was surprising to see how far/deep Veratti and ArC had managed to infiltrate. I did find myself wanting to know if the others like Mercy, Alisz and Iskra were able to get free. Same for any other Gen2s or the Neiothiens. That epilogue was so beautiful. It was nice to see people getting slices of happiness and futures that seem to be growing by the second.

The epic conclusion is here!

Hold on tight! The epic conclusion to The Book of the Wars is here. This was a book that couldn't wait to finish but also didn't want to finish. I love Leif, Iskra and the rest of Reaper and I hate to say goodbye (hoping they will make appearances again like Canyon did) but the conclusion is also so perfect. We have been on a journey with Leif as he tries to figure out his missing months and who he is. We really see him struggle with his demons and I love a good redemption story. That is exactly what happens. He fights and fights with his team, Iskra and himself but eventually God breaks through and he has redemption. He is able to have peace. I never want to say goodbye to Ronie Kendig's characters and especially not Leif. The Metcalfe clan is my favorite, heroes and overcoming their demons. Ms. Kendig knows how to write a story, she knows how to suck you in and take you along for the ride. She knows how to make you hold your breath and never put the book down and that is exactly what makes a great book! Thank you, Ronie Kendig for this journey!
