Not good... I NEVER write reviews unprompted, but was so disappointed with the weirdly sweet taste that I had to. I was excited to eat this - I love spicy, love chowder. So if you're like me and think this looks good, be disappointed before you spend the money and just skp it!

Tastes strange. Not in a good way. The picture on the jar is just plain misleading - some corn and a couple tiny chunks of potato. It's like the consistency of thin nacho cheese, but tastes weirdly super sweet. It's bad. Really bad.

A southwest soup should be flavorful & robust, my forst bite I recoiled it was ungodly sweet and ruined the soup. I didn't finish the bowl I made and threw out the jar. Very disappointing.

This is the worst thing I’ve ever placed in my mouth. It was nothing more than a jar of sugar. I have three jars left in the pantry that I don’t even want to donate to a soup kitchen because people down on their luck don’t even deserve this.

Sweet, sour, and awful.
Wish I could give this zero stars. By far one of the grossest soups I've ever had. It's sickeningly sweet, sour like it's rancid, with a weirdly spicy aftertaste. How did you screw up such a good idea? And 14g of sugar per serving??

Good Soup
This is a really tasty soup, My lack of 5 stars is because it in fact needs chicken. it does have a slight sweetness to it but that balances out the smoky chilis and contary to other reviews saying to add water it does not require dilution.

Jar of southwest chile chowder
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really great, quick and easy meal to have that can also be eaten on the go. I love that it comes in a glass jar so realistically I can bring this to work, pop off the lid and heat it in the microwave without excess dishes. The soup is thick, with some spice to it, and chunky texture. This will definitely serve 2-3 depending on if it is your meal or a side dish. I served with some crackers and it was delicious!

Good soup, but people need to be aware that you have to dilute it with water like you do with Campbell soups in the can.
This soup is fantastic. It's got a southwest spicy flaver and there are great vegetables in it that you can chew so it give it great texture. Some people complain that it is too sweet. That's because they are not preparing it correctly. This soup should be diluted with water just like you would do with the Campbell's soups that are condensed and comes in a can. If you dilute it, then it has the right taste. The soup comes in thick consistancy in the jar so it requires dilution with water. Follow this recommendation and you will like this soup like I do.

soooo disappointed in this soup. it looked amazing in person, but my fault for not reading the ingredients. its way too sweet & turns out sugar is a top ingredient. i stocked up on soups to have after my dental procedure & this was my first one to have. absolutely disgusting i wanna throw up. it should NOT be this sweet. never again. like its so bad its enough to make me wanna stay away from good & gather products in general.

Good soup starter
I liked the taste, sweet with heat. I used it as a base to make a quick chicken corn chowder. Added chicken , corn and some canned dices potatoes . Done in 10 minutes.

Why is it sweet?
This had such potential, but the corn adds enough sweetness as it is. I was looking at the ingredients list once I got it home, (that'll teach me to read them in the store) and when I saw how far up sugar was on the list I had a bad feeling. Too much sugar folks! Why? I know that Americans love sugar, but soup should be savory with pops of sweetness. This is like a weirdly spicy bowl of dessert. Wish I could recommend it. Maybe Target will see the reviews and fix the recipe. I would love to be able to buy glass jar soups with quality ingredients for less than five dollars, but this is not the way.

I agree with the other reviews. I didn’t read the reviews before trying it and I wish I did. It doesn’t say anything about it being sweet. But it is overly sweet. I am not sure what the point of adding so much sugar is? Hopefully they will take note and add less sugar. I hoped it would have been better.

Way Too Sweet
I was expecting it to be savory and spicy but it was extremely sweet. Like candy sweet. The quality wasnt bad, the taste was just really not for me. If you're looking for a sweet chowder, you'll probably like it, otherwise dont get it.
