Q: According to the CDC, silican is a toxic substance. Why is this used in beauty products? https://wwwn.cdc.gov/TSP/substances/ToxSubstance.aspx?toxid=290#:~:text=Summary%3A%20Silica%20is%20another%20n
A: I googled is silica safe in lip gloss... CDC says there are no known health risks from exposure to the levels of amorphous silica found in cosmetics. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review panel has ruled silica safe to use in cosmetics at a wide range of concentrations. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration allows silica to be added to food as an anti-caking agent. Silica is considered generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for use in personal care products.
