Q: Does the bottom part separate from the planter?
A: The bottom part of the planter actually does separate from the pot itself. It takes a little bit of work to do so, because it snaps in, but it for sure can separate.

Q: How many inches is the watering reservoir? I would like to know how deep the pot is in the area where soil is placed. Thanks!
A: This became a big concern of mine after I purchase a few of these today. So what I’m about to mention seems like a problem, but fixable problem. I’ve separated my planter from the base. The actual reservoir has a depth of 2-1/4”, meanwhile the actual planter sits just a little over 1/2” into the water. The problem that this creates, is that there is now about 1-3/4” of water that doesn’t make contact with the bottom of the planter, and will just sit there. I did however notice that each planter I bought, both 10” and 6”, has holes in the bottom for what appears to be for rope. So I will be buying self watering rope to help soak up the remaining amount of water that does not make contact with the planter.

Q: How many gallons is this?
A: It’s hard to estimate how many gallons this planter holds, because you can’t fill it to the top. I did however set my 3 gallon water bottle inside of it, and there was still room to move it around. So I’d estimate some where between 2.5-3 gallons.

Q: There is no wick included with my pot. How do I set it up to self water? If I add water to the bottom tray, it will not reach the soil as there is nothing to connect the water with the soil.

Q: Is the plastic hard or is it soft? Do the sides bend?
A: These are made of a hard plastic and they do bend to a certain degree. The closest type of plastic with similar thickness I could compare these to, would be your average plastic cooking spatula.
