This is my go-to-flytrap. Very effective and attracts lots of flies. The only downside is the bad smell so make sure to hang it far away.

I just put out last weekend in our yard, don't have any farm animals but have a cat that like to leave his dropping on the hill in our yead. Have not seen the results I would have expected but I'll hold any critical's until some time as elapsed. Definitely has an aroma..

The bait that came with the trap still rates as worthless. AND, the "Attractant Refill" gets a nine on a scale of ten! I will probably order it again.
Best fly trap!

Stinks like crazy but fills with flies within a few days when used as directed. I have two and I add water every 4-5 days in warm weather, and dump every week or two. This is for a 3/4 acre property with four horses, one dog, one pot bellied pig. If you can't stomach the dump and refill process, get the flyrelief bag version.
A great supplement to fly predators!

We use multiple methods of fly control on our property...fly predators really seem to help, along with fly sprays, sheets & masks. I also stumbled upon these traps, as I saw them when I was ordering my fly predators. I know that even though fly predators work, they do not eliminate flies 100%. Our hay field borders our pastures and barn, and after our hay gets cut, we always seem to get an influx of flies! We decided to try out these traps, and I am SO glad that we did! You simply mix up a tube of fly pheromone that is included with the trap with water, and hang somewhere that you have a high amount of fly traffic--around the barn, or near your muck pile. It sat empty for 1-2 weeks, and I was discouraged. But, seemingly overnight, we had many, many flies going into the trap! It got to the point that there was probably a 2 inch layer of flies in the trap, and more were buzzing around the top to go in! I have to say, the smell when you empty the trap is quite terrible, but you are rid of a WHOLE LOT of flies! There are refills available of the pheromone tubes, and make sure that you do not try to stretch the refills & use less per fly trap...this does not work as well and seems to attract less flies. Definitely worth the investment to help control flies - but make sure to give it a chance, because in my case I didn't see immediate results, but after a couple of weeks, the trap seemed to work really well!

Followed instructions, have it sitting on the ground in the middle of the round pen in full sun and it's only caught a few flies, while a pile of horse dung will have an uncountable number of flies in the same round pen. Have two different traps from local feed store made from recycled soda bottles and these work great. Will buy the drop in refills for soda bottles and use in this container. Huge waste of $.

I bought this product on a whim and I have been very happy with my purchase. After one week of using it I bought 3 more. It has really helped to control the fly population in my barn.
They do not work at my barn... :(((

Hi, I just bought them about a month ago and the flys are so bad on sunny days... I even have one hanging right by my manure pile... It doesn"t work. I followed all the instructions and even remade the solution with the extra solution I purchase... I bought 4 of them and have not even caught 1 fly! lol! Hoping they work soon... Otherwise, I am very disappointed! :(
Working really well for me

I've always used the Farnum's Disposable Fly Relief bags and was hesitant to try something different. I'm glad that I did, because this product is working really well. The first place I hung the fly trap resulted in virtually no activity so after a week I moved the trap. Within hours the trap started to fill with flies. After 2 days, the trap is almost full and I am very happy. So, if the product doesn't work in one spot, move it and see what happens!

WASTE OF MONEY. I purchased The Captivator Fly Trap July 5, 2009, and I received it the 9th. Quick response by SmartPak. I have a large in ground swimming pool on two side were surrounded by large trees. I had company in from out of state and we had a difficult time enjoying the pool and cooking because of the flies. I got on line and found the Captivator. I followed the instructions and placed them the very day they arrived. They been in place every since and I have a total of about 6 flies. I have tried moving them around without success.

This trap caught a TON of flies, but I'd need a dozen traps to make a difference in my small barn. There are just too many flies for trap solutions to work effectively.
WOW! This works!!

My poor horse was being eaten alive by flies - I have never seen them so bad and summer isn't here yet! Several of the other boarders have fly traps, but they have had little impact. I was desperate, so I got fly predators, a garlic supplement and these fly traps. Man, do they work! They are easy to use and very clean. I hung them by our manure pile and within an hour, it was a third full! A few days later it was a solid black fly mass.. completely full! I was nervous to empty it, as I did not want the smell or the dead bodies on me, but I was very surprised that I could just twist off the top and pour the bodies into the manure pile (I buried them!). I left a few bodies in the bottom and added a bit more water and rehung it... it immediately started to catch more! It is awesome and it works well with the predators!
Great Product

I catch TONS of flies by using the dead flies as attractant. When full, I simply dump out half of the dead flies and add more water. Works much better than the attractant. Still very stinky but WOW does it work. I'm up to 6 of these things now.
Excellent
