A: Yes, definitely needs assembly. I do woodworking and it took me two full hours to assemble. You need a hammer and a phillips screwdriver.

When I received this item in the mail I was worried that I wouldn’t like it, the color walnut was quite a bit darker than the photo. Be prepared to take some time to put this together. There are lots of parts. When I did get this nightstand together I was actually quite pleased. It looks great for the sale price I paid. The finish does not look very durable. It ties together my daughters bedroom quite nicely. Overall I am happy.

Looks great and if you want some end tables for cheap, they are great. However, very hard to put together. Peg holes almost never match up, no pre-drilled holes for the screws and you have to use a Allen wrench for the legs and the head stripped out so one of the legs are loose.

The legs were a perfect walnut color, but the rest of it was super dark and the top had a blemish or discoloration right on the front edge. I stopped unpacking the box after that. Why do they go ahead and package those up like that? Nobody wants an obvious mottled looking blotch on their furniture.

I cannot believe how difficult and infuriating this was to install. There are no pilot holes so you're literally just wrenching screws into solid wood based on sheer willpower and just hoping you're doing it at the right angle. The instructions are garbage, and tell you not to use a drill. However, as I am not the incredible hulk, I was forced to use a drill to get in most of the screws. It took longer to assemble this than a queen size bed frame, 3-drawer dresser, and 4 lamps. We had to tag team because we would each get so frustrated we would need a break. Oh and the paint job is a joke, you can see the wood grain.

It came severely cracked on top/sides and chipped on actual drawer. Also the wood doesn’t look like it’ll last too long. I wish I knew that the drawer doesn’t run on rails, it’s wood running against wood which I don’t like cause it sometimes gets stuck even though it’s brand new.

Assembly took quite a while. Screws would not go all the way into the wood even using a drill. The thin back was not large enough so I could not secure all four corners using the nails. Also, the walnut stain was darker than I had wanted… closer to an espresso in my opinion. If I would have known everything above, I would not have purchased, but not unhappy with the style or function of the finished product.

Poor quality material. Chips very easy and peels after a while. I'd recommend using some kind of sealant before putting this in a room where it will be regularly used. It just falls apart. Cute look for a few months but doesn't last

Very happy with these nightstands! They’re decent and sturdy quality, making them a good deal for the more affordable price. Being handy with a drill made assembly an absolute breeze, just took some time is all. Just keep track of your unfinished edges and follow the instructions and you can’t really go wrong. The only funny thing about the instructions is that there was no consistent mentioning of part #16, but if you just look at the picture diagram it’s super easy to figure out which piece is mislabeled. The instructions also recommend applying beeswax to the wooden drawer tracks to easy the pull system, don’t skip that step! It really makes the drawers feel a light nicer and they pull more effortlessly and quietly.

The day I bought this nightstand was the same day I bought my first toolbox and I managed to figure it out. Everybody in the reviews said building it was awful, but all you need is a phillips screw driver and a hammer and they give you everything else. It's super cute and the caramel color I got is beautiful.

Three screw holes were not predrilled in the factory. The screws need to be installed at an angle (attaching two pieces at 90 degrees) so not an easy fix. Because my husband is handy, he used L-brackets to attach the top to the side. Aside from this issue (which is likely a deal breaker for most folks), this is somewhat complicated to build. The finished product looks nice. The wood is pretty soft so we may put a coat of finish on it. This unit is not worth the hassle of what we've gone through. I would not buy this product again.
