The first question for a new mechanical device is: does it perform to specifications? The negative reviews seemed to center around poor assembly, but this arrived perfect. I need to commute 2.6 miles each way, mostly flat, some gentle slopes, no elevation gain between destinations, bike lanes but crummy pavement. I was a little concerned that it came home on one bar, and slowing down. I checked more review sites and found a reviewer who recorded 7.6 miles on the flat at 165 lb rider. I am probably over 200 lb with a backpack and leather jacket, and I could have probably squeezed out another mile in my roundtrip for over 6.2 miles. It seems comparable to the lighter rider getting 7.6, so I conclude that the machine I got is performing to specs. It perfectly meets my needs. It seems well designed with rugged components I would love to read what the real service life of the vehicle will be, based on the fact that electric cars require little maintenance and live a long time, I hope that this will last many years, but it will pay back the purchase price in saved transit fees in a little over a year (I get a senior discount on transit).Be sure it will serve your requirements, if so, don't hesitate to buy!!update: 2 days later added .5 miles to the commute and rode home into a stiff wind, battery lasted about 5.5 miles total. i ordered a second charger for my office, but my rating is unchanged.

I purchased 2 scooters for my parents for Christmas to add a new dimension to Grammy and Grampy time. They now can keep up with their granddaughter on her bike and it enables them to go on scooter adventures with us...which is something on our push scooters they could not do.They even take them to their house in Florida...just to cruise the neighborhood.Easy to assemble, and easy to ride. The batteries do not like the cold weather in Michigan...so do note that the battery life / range is dependent on the weather...but that is NOT a manufacturing or quality issue...that is a side effect for most consumer batteries.Definitely recommended...

So I bought this about 5 months ago and put about 300 miles on it. The battery seems and motor are holding up very well and can say it is well the purchase compared to a razor brand, especially the price. It's gotten a lot of use in all terrain street and hilly bike trails without 1 issue. I replaced the tires with solids just to prevent issues with future flats but ride quality was not compromised. I am getting about 14-18 miles on a single charge (5hrs) with an average 12-13 mph speed. Like others display max speed is 15.5 my GPS says it's 13 but I have a fluidfreerides horizon and razor e300(lipo conversion) scooter that's is slower on the GPS, so it must be the accuracy of the app or all scooters are under rated. The one con is the hook that holdsbthe scooter for transport isn't the best design. I've had it dislodge and smack my leg a few times. Overall I recommend this to anyone looking for a budget quality scooter.

THIS SCOOTER IS AMAZING. AFTER LOTS OF SEARCHING, I FOUND THIS SCOOTER TO BE FAST CHARGING, LONG LASTING BATTERY, AND FAST!!!!! WE HAVE HAD THIS FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. MY TEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LOVES RIDING IT AROUND THE BLOCK. IT FITS IN MY TESLA MODEL Y TRUNK VERY EASILY AT A DIAGONAL. PUTTING IT TOGETHER WAS EASY EXCEPT THE BREAK CORD WAS CONFUSING BECAUSE IT IS A VERY TIGHT FIT, BUT IT FITS. TRUST ME. I WILL BE ORDERING A SECOND ONE AS A GIFT FOR SURE FOR MY BOYFRIENDS 15 YEAR OLD SONS BIRTHDAY. SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!

TL;DR: I am admittedly obsessed with this thing. It’s easy to assemble, stays charged much longer than expected, and is very smooth to ride. It’s also total eye candy, which is a fun plus. Here are some notes from different adventures I’ve had in the past two weeks:1. The first ride was bumpy, but I quickly got the hang of balancing, accelerating, and braking. Do yourself a favor and practice braking and accelerating in tandem.2. If you’re on a smooth paved road and don’t stop constantly, you get more miles out of a charge.3. This is probably obvious, but would not use it on rough terrain. It handles bumps, potholes, and uneven sidewalks well, but do not push it. Keep an eye out for gravel, really patchy, hole-y stretches, and deep dips, and avoid them.4. Can I just say how convenient it is to have a mode of transport that can peacefully share the road with cyclists and motorists and also fold-down compact enough to bring into stores and cafes? So cool. Nobody has even minded when I wheel it into a shop because it takes up so little space.5. I don’t know why people are complaining about the bell— it works as it’s intended to work.6. Fun tips: I’ve been hanging my backpack over the handlebars for extra storage. Also, to make it grocerystore-friendly, I place a basket on the scooter footbed and wheel it through. Saves space and keeps shopping to a backpackable amount for the ride home.

Product delivered as described with no damage to packaging or product. It took less than 10 minutes to unpack and assemble. Initial assessment after 1+ weeks is that this is a high quality scooter that should last for years with proper care. I purchased this as a gift for my 11 year old (4' 10"). I was a little concerned with height of handle bars after assembly, but she has no issues steering or maintaining control while riding. I did not purchase this scooter for commuting; however, I see its value for this use as I'm a daily commuter who uses a combination of public transportation and walking to get to/from work. The folding option is nice, but I would not want to carry the scooter for a long period of time due to weight. My only gripe thus far is the brake is a little touchy and locks up rear tire with a little more than slight pressure on the hand brake. Other than that, would highly recommend.

Sorry, I know it sounds bad. But hear me out. I had two of those (yeah its a good stealing target) and they are REALLY good when they work. I had to return one, too. But if it works well the first week it will work well for a while.Besides being really cheap, it has the best handling I have ever seen. And i have seen many, I love to try new scooters, all new birds, limes, ubers and many more. But somehow they are not as stable, not as fast, not as soft and not as responsive.simply put its poor quality control but well-designed scooter.this is 5-star review, cos I love it! but here are a few flaws that I see after a year:* The battery will last you 10 miles, so if you going further you need to push* 250-watt motor might not get you over a steep hill (but do you know hoe much more $$ you have to add to get anything above 250 W??)* it has no tail light, I stick one to my backpack.* it's heavier than I want it to be (however, please show me a lighter scooter with 8+ inch wheels? there are none)

Great fun around the neighborhood

UPDATED: Rear tire went flat after a month of regular riding. I took it to a bike shop, and the owner found the tube was a bit twisted and had worn holes along the twist. I've ordered two replacement tubes from GoTrax's website; they ship (free) out of Texas. This is something I was prepared for, since I saw another buyer say something very similar happened to him, but it's still annoying. It apparently happens in the assembly process.I will probably sell this on when my Turbowheel Lightning (and safety gear) arrives. The Gotrax is fun enough it has convinced me to spend the extra money on a heavy duty machine.ORIGINAL REVIEW: This scooter is a lot of fun for cruising around the neighborhood. With a top speed of 15mph, I wouldn’t be commuting on it. There's no suspension, so rough road and uneven sidewalks can be quite jarring. Good enough for going into the grass a bit when necessary. It holds me just fine and feels solid, despite my 5’ 10”, 240-pound size. Handlebars would be more comfortable if they were a bit higher. The headlight is quite bright and well-aimed. The scooter is heavy (24 pounds) and a bit awkward to carry, especially as the catch that holds the tiller down in the folded position seems to release at the slightest bump… except when you actually want it to release. Still, convenient enough to pop in the back of my Tesla for road trips, so I can pull it out to zoom around while it's charging. Good brake; cruise control is nice; bell is silly. These are inherently unstable, so don’t plan on messing with your phone while riding (unless you get a handlebar mount for it, maybe). Taking even one hand off the handlebars makes you a likely wipeout victim if you hit some rough pavement. I ride around the neighborhood and park about 2-3 miles at a time at full speed most of the time, which puts it down about 2 out of 4 bars; riding it again without charging it makes it noticeably less peppy. Charge it after each ride. (But leave it at half or three quarters if you’re not going to ride it for a few days; lithium-ion batteries last longer that way.)

Actually delivers on specifications

This scooter actually delivers on specifications. It does in fact get the minimum 8 mile rage and runs at the full 15.5 mph the entire time. Downhill it regularly hits 17.2 and 13 or so uphill. I weight 180lbs. I have been using this scooter daily to get to my office from where I plug my car in to charge, I keep a power inverter in my car so I can plug the scooter in as soon as I drop it in the trunk. The build quality is excellent, all I had to do out of the box was check all the bolts for tightness (you should always do this for anything you buy that you are going to ride on) and make a very small adjustment to the hand brake, that was it and that’s all I’ve had to do. I was concerned this was going to be one of those “check every bolt every day” kinds of scooters but I’ve literally had to do nothing since the first day I’ve had it. Delivers on specs, quality components, extremely low maintenance, a 5 star win for me. And those talking about not being able to go over 9mph - this is a two speed scooter, once you push off to start it’s automatically in low, if you push and hold the red button for a second it will switch to high speed.

Review from a complete noob using this for commuting to work

Love this scooter. My work schedule has changed and I had to figure out a different way to get to work. I have never ridden an electric scooter before this so this review is from a complete noob. I am 180lbs and my ride is 2 miles in both directions up slight hills and covers both sidewalks and bike paths. The speed is great. I hit 15mph with no problems. The wheels do a pretty good job cushioning me over leaves, small rocks, and pavement cracks. I still felt it all, but it wasn't jarring. The breaks are too good. I mostly coast to a stop because using the handbreak gives me a jolt every time. I will probably get better as I get used to this. The display is simple and large. Charging is easy, just make sure to push it in all the way. I did not do that the first time. It's easier to plug it in when its unfolded.Assembly took 5min. My scooter came with assembly instructions in 2 places. Just unlatch at the back wheel and unfold, unscrew 2 screws at red hook and pull out black insert that's in the tube, place handle bar into shaft, hook break line, rescrew the hook so handles don't come out. That was it. Super simple! I was riding this scooter 15min after delivery.

Fantastic scooter. I'm middle aged and bought this for when my kids want to go on a bike ride. It outpaces them and has more endurance. Battery life is top notch, speed is limited at just over 15mph. Charges fast, holds charge for weeks if left unplugged accidentally. The Cruise Control is an excellent feature. Tires are a bit difficult to get air in, but no big deal with the supplied adapter. I would expect this to be one of the most expensive scooters on the market, not the cheapest. If you are tossing around the idea of buying this one just do it. You will not be disappointed. You'll be surprised at how often you ride it.

30 minutes to myself is a lot of time.

I bought this because I was fed up with trains and buses. I used this all Summer and still am at the time of this writing. The amount of freedom I’ve become accustomed to is invaluable. It feels liberating to leave for work/school and arrive not only on time, but with time to spare. It took me about an hour to get to work before this scooter. Now I’m averaging 30 minutes. In the city an extra free 30min is a lot of time to get to yourself.I personally didn’t have much luck with the air tires so I invested in the honeycomb tires due to flats. However, that’s just bad luck on my part. I didn’t want to have to deal with a flat anymore. Which I would recommend considering if you don’t want to change the tire, because it’s a really taxing experience. You’re also trading shock absorption for no flats if you decide to go with honeycomb tires FYI.This scooter suits your life style if you live in an area with congestion, crowded subways, want to see more of the area, running errands. Or just plain don’t like people.

I mainly used this for a short time and distance from my home, still beat walking easily! While I can’t say much on how far the battery will go as I didn’t travel really far with it, the battery could last me all week going the short distance I did. Reasonably fast, almost surprising even, depends on your weight but I got up to 16mph on flats and 13-14 on hills. My only complaint is that you can’t ride in the wet weather but this is expected, maybe they’ll make a waterproof one eventually! Although it’s decently moisture resistant as I rode it a few times *after* it had rained and after drying off the bottom it seemed fine. Another issue I had was the cheap red plastic hook to fold it in half barely fit together and even then broke after a good 4 months so do what you will with that.

MAN...... THIS IS FUN !!!!I was hesitant to get an Electric Scooter, I thought they couldn’t possibly perform as well as people were saying.... I mean look at them.... the design is so simple.... how could something that looks like a toy, function like a REAL VEHICLE ????Well, I got on this GXL V2, and after I had set it up with the codes ( which are pretty easy) and charged it overnight...( it takes 4 hours to reach a full charge with it’s 36V lithium ion battery ), the next day,I got on it.Well, I’m a small person, only 5’2”, this thing is43.75” x 17” x 42”, on 8.5” air filled tires, so it seemed a lot bigger once I stepped on it....Maybe I misjudged it ...????????Maybe it’s not a toy after all, I thought ..,OK ... it felt good, and SOLID... on it’s aluminum frame... and heavy enough, ( 26.98 lbs.) to be Stable , without being TOO HEAVY to carry if I wanted to put it in my SUV, (cause it folds in half for carrying or transport with 1easy step..)So anyway, I’m on this thing, and frankly a little nervous...Oh .. and I DO HAVE A HELMET & GLOVES ON ....Safety First....??????I turn it on, and gave it TOO MUCH POWER at first......I backed off REAL QUICK ...This thing will take you for a ride ...It’s got LOADS OF POWER... once I got a “feel” for it, I was fine ... this scooter is a BLAST ..I took it out, it was a clear day, I stayed on flat good asphalt, with relatively NO traffic and didn’t challenge the machine.Or my nerves.....I also didn’t go over 10 MPH, and came to very easy slow stops. The dual EABS Braking System performed very well, I didn’t have any problems. This Scooter has a Headlight, but only a Rear Reflector, so I doubt I will be riding past dusk.It also can handle a 14 degree incline, but I flunked geometry so I have no conception of what that is.. I better stay flat ....??????It can also travel 12 miles before it needs charged, I better remember that, huh ??And at a top speed of 15.5 MPH,( which I am too much of a chicken to ever attempt..... )people that actually use these to commute to work or school can hit the snooze button a couple more times every morning....My Final Opinion ...,???Great Scooter....... You’re not gonna find another way to get you where you’re going that’s more FUN, I’ll say that !!!PLEASE WEAR A HELMET !!!

If you're looking for a first scooter, this is the way to go no questions asked! For the price and quality of the scooter there is no reason to be looking at other scooters. I have compared other scooters to this one and honestly Gotrax has offered nothing but simplicity and an ease of mind when it comes to scooter and if you're new to the game this is what you're going to want. My school is around 2miles from my apt and it’s really handy to go back and forth multiple times a day. The speed is good enough to not get bored on it! The battery goes really low when going uphill or roads with gradient if it’s not fully charged. One other feature I really hoped it had was some kind of lock or anti theft protection, I believe regardless of the price of electric scooters all should have this basic feature. For this one I’m planning to use an small u-lock on its back wheel! Other then these, I really enjoy the ride. The wheels are big and goes over cracks on the road without major bump as well. Will try to update its condition if something major happens!

Bought for my 11 year old and she loves it! She’s on it almost every day.The one bad thing I have to say is, it was shorting out when we first got it and when my husband opened it up to look at it, there was a screw lose that was shorting it out and it could have been a bad situation. It had a quality check sticker on it but it clearly hadn’t been checked.

This is great for campus living or to scoot from your car to work (not from home). No suspension so it's a hard ride. For $250 though, it performes at just the right amount. I store it in my trunk & use it to commute from my parking to the office. Occasionally I use it to commute to work but it's really not safe b/c of the tire width & lack of suspension. If you are a commuter I'd suggest a 3 wheeled scooter or electric bike. Potholes, cracks or uneven pavement of more than an inch , could easily wreck you. Braking could cause you to be thrown over the front if you don't lean back & brace before braking.

Waiting about 4 weeks after road test about the battery, mile range, max speed and all of them are perfect as listed. The only improvement can be done is moving the locking latch a bit on the bumper, so it will lock securely. The ride comfort, handbrake, 12+ mile range and 16mph top speed/cruise control at top speed are awesome.Bought it with additional coupon make it more sweeter. Great buy for product performance and quality
