A: Hello Bobbi, Thanks for reaching out! The legs on the "Swainson Traditional Tweed Armchair - Christopher Knight Home" need to be assembled onto the base of the chair. However we cannot recommend to make alterations or use the chair other than instructed in the manual since our products are not tested in that manner and may void warranty should there be any adverse affect.

Nifty chair
I am very pleased with this chair. It is smaller than many so good if you're renting as I am. It has good workmanship and the teal, which I ordered, looks a little darker yet still a beautiful tone (my favorite color). It was easy to put together. If you like a very soft, squishy chair, this isn't the one for you. It is firm, but I like it because the soft ones aren't good with back support. It has good lower back support. I can put my feet on the floor (yes, small enough for a woman). Seat is 19" deep and 19.5" wide, 18" tall. It would work well in a bedroom too. The sleigh arms made it look unusual--plantlike? whimsical" Just sorry I missed the current lower price.
