I am 91 and had type 2 diabetes for 30 years i was able from 1990 to maybe abt 2010 to manage my diabetes but would have occasional diabetic neuropathy in my feet. About 10 or more years ago a column by Swanson summarized a clical trial showed that Pycnogenol was very good at improving capillary survival in patients with serious leg edema.Realizing the importance of preserving kidney capillaries I obtained and read the study. The double blind study gave the medicated patients 150 mg of pycnogenol a day and after several weeks was 100 % successful in identifying them.I have used that dosage for 15 years. I have had no diabetic neuro therapy in my feet for the last several years. My doctor states lab tests show kidneys are still working fine. I do walk at least 1 mile a day 6 days a week. I credit exercise and pycnogenol with saving my feet. Capillaries are the very smallest blood delivery tubes and deliver directly to cells in many important bodily functions.

I take it for the strong anti-oxidant factor. I knew someone who had cancer, and was taking it. It seemed to keep the cancer from getting worse. He happened to not die from cancer, but something else. I don't feel different, but hope it to be something to help my overall health.
