Description
This Swingline ClassicCut Lite Guillotine Trimmer has a cutting arm that swings up and down to make straight cuts on photos and documents. The 12" blade is self-sharpening and cuts up to 10 sheets at once. An alignment grid and dual scale ruler ensure cuts are precise. Plus, the plastic base has non-slip rubber feet and is lightweight for easy portability. The easy grip handle comes detached and snaps into the cutting arm. Some assembly required. The guard rail is fixed in place and keeps fingers safely away from blade. Due to the guard rail, recommended maximum paper size is 8 1/2" x 11". A blade latch locks the trimmer down when not in use. To latch or unlatch, press down on the handle, then flip the latch. Trimmer comes with a limited 10-year warranty.

This Swingline paper cutter replaced one that was very heavy and decades old. My first impression was concern about the weight difference. This Swingline paper cutter is very light in weight, but it is not a lightweight when it comes to cutting paper. It makes great cuts time and time again. I actually prefer that it weighs less than my old one because it makes it more convenient. Instead of taking the project to the paper cutter, you can easily take the paper cutter to the project. I am very impressed with the performance of this paper cutter.

Works well for the price
Overall works well and cuts nicely. I like that I can cut larger and thicker paper. I do wish it had a better way to hold the paper in place and a better guide line for where it’ll make the cut.

It cuts paper & also fingers
The safety lock is underneath the paper cutter directly next to the blade. So it's easy to cut your finger unlocking it. Now I'm bleeding & writing this review when I just wanted to finish my craft project. I don't understand how anyone OKed this lock design.

Does not cut straight
My cutter doesn't cut straight. I align it to the grid, but the paper narrows toward the bottom right edge after the cut, making it unusable. No replacement blade. Useless, now.

Cut well at first but hard to align the paper to get even square cuts. After 1 big project, paper no longer has a clean cut to it

Falling apart
Feet kept falling off, blade lock was stuck and I had to unscrew it. The blade is sharp and does the job but this needs better craftsmanship

Blade goes dull and they do not sell replacements
Purchased this product about a year ago. It will no longer cut paper cleanly as the blade is now dull. If you look at the Q&A's on their support page, there are many people asking where they can get a replacement blade. The reply from Swingline is that they do not sell replacement blades for this product. Eventually, in my case fairly quickly, the blade goes dull and then the product is useless.

Toe issue
I accidentally cut off my big toe with this so it’s not the safest thing but otherwise works well

Measurement is a little off but its a good trimmer otherwise
The blade is sharp and cuts nicely but I took a star off because the measurement is off. I followed the ruler on the trimmer but all my cardstock squares have a little extra on one side. The trimmer helps me move quicker with my crafting but that one con is annoying.

Doesn't cut straight
Does not cut completely straight. I don’t even know how it’s possible with the way this trimmer is designed but it’s very difficult to get a straight cut, which completely defeats the purpose of buying this. I suppose it’s better than scissors though.

This aint it :(
Would not recommend—especially for the price. This isn’t good quality and it is way overpriced. I tried using it for straightening pages that I cut out of vintage magazines. It’s SUPER hard to get a straight cut on the paper. It needs a mechanism to hold paper in place while you slice.

Nice But Not So Nice.
This is such a beautiful and a nice paper cutter. Mind you I haven’t had this but like 2 weeks or so and use it once a day. Since then though half way to the end it stops cutting and pushes the paper down with the blade rather than cutting. I do sublimation and it has messed up my prints. So definitely not as good as it looks. It worked perfectly the first couple of times but the consistency has definitely changed. Disappointed for sure. I wouldn’t recommend.

Could be better
It’s hard to make sure cuts are straight, but this does an okay job.
