Makin' Bacon fizzles out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were excited to receive the Makin' Bacon dice game to try out and review. But after reviewing the instructions and trying the game, we quickly realized we wouldn't be playing again. First, rolling 6 dice all at once is quite hard for my 8nyear Olds to do with their little hands. We ended up grabbing a cup to make it easier. Then keeping score is a bit difficult. We had to keep referring to the instructions to see the point values of the letters. Also, trying to.keep track of the cumulative scores for each roll is a bit cumbersome. We just really didn't find it to be a fun game and something we'd want to continue to play.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Makin' Bacon is a simple game. Not much to it. A little boring. Would make more of a gag gift. Might be fun for little kids.
Adorable, and fun just wish it was a little clearer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 17 yr old and I decided to bust this game out and give it a try. First of all, the packaging is absolutely adorable. From the back of the card in the box looking like bacon in the package, to the bacon handles, to the "nutrition label" contents info the packaging was perfectly planned out. I saw some people commenting that the game/package was smaller than expected. It is small, if you're expecting a package the size of a regular bacon package...lower that expectation. It's roughly the size of a deck of cards. Other than the packaging, the one thing I like about this game is it doesn't have a million pieces. You have 6 dice, instructions, and a card that serves as a points reference. What didn't I like? I feel like the instructions could be clearer. There was a few times we said "So what does that mean, or should that count?" We reread the directions a few times and eventually felt comfortable enough to play. The scoring cards provided are not sufficient. It was just the two of us playing and it took us much more than 5 rounds for someone to get to 6000 points to win. In the future we'll probably just use a piece of paper to keep track. All in all we had fun playing. We might have decided a few rules for ourselves since there were some gaps in explanation but it was fun and we'll definitely play it again. I think this would be a super cute gift for a bacon lover and/or game enthusiast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently went on an extended family vacation and took the Makin' Bacon game with us. One night we sat around the table with the adults and kids (ages 6 to 16) and played Makin' Bacon! It was lots of fun! It took a little bit to understand the directions, but once we did, we played for quite a while! Even my 6 year old could play, we just did her adding up for her. This is a lot like yatzee, but slightly different, not having to know "poker hands", which made it a lot easier for some, who have no idea what a straight is. Another thing, this game is super small and easy to transport! We all had blast and would definitely keep this part of family game night!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sadly, we did not enjoy playing this game. The directions were difficult to understand. The scoring was weird - you really need the little reference scorecard to remember how to score your turn, unlike a numbered dice game. One of my family members suggested that it would have been better to put a number of bacon strips on each face of the die (1 strip of bacon for 1, 2 strips of bacon for 2, etc.) Speaking of the representation of bacon, other than the packaging and letters that spelled "bacon" there really wasn't much about this game that had anything to do with bacon. And honestly, the raw bacon graphic was kinda gross. We were so frustrated by the directions that we went into the game feeling like we didn't want to play before we even started. Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore.
Confusing, but fun once you get hang of it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I played the game a few times with family members. Until you get the hang of the rules, it can be confusing. Once we got a grasp on the rules, we enjoyed it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we had so much fun playing this game. The packaging is so cute and really looks like a pack of bacon. The game is fun and easy to understand. Plus it is fairly quick so you aren't playing forever. My 3 year old even likes rolling the dice and telling me what letter she gets so it's educational as well. I would definitely buy this as a small gift for a friend and would recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I played this game with my 11 year old son. It took us a minute to understand the directions. However, once we got started it was a lot of fun. My son kept asking to play another round once finished. My only complaint would be incorporating more lines on the score pad. We played several rounds and never got to 6000 points within 7 games. I'd suggest actually including a score pad. I love that the game was small enough for travel. It would be great if it was in a metal tin or drawstring bag so that it's hard to lose the pieces. Overall, the game was a hit and I can see myself playing it a lot in the future. I definitely recommend this product.
