Q&A(30)

Q: Can this be used outdoors?

submitted by Target Customer - 6 years ago
  • A: They are not designed for outside use. We recommend the Outdoor Liquid Ant Bait Stakes for outdoor use.

  • A: Yes. It will need protection from any children(any age), pets, rain/sprinklers and wind. I have used it near ant hills but once the wind flips it or a shower comes, it is useless. I know what you're thinking: Did it work? Yes for the hill. I have no idea if it got the nest. After I lost a few(due to wind, rain and, once, a mower, I gave up trying. They seem to be effective inside as I put one under the microwave about twice a year and it clears the problem.

Q: Is it safe for pets?

submitted by Ready123 - 10 days ago
  • A: TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait Stations should be placed in areas that are inaccessible to pets and children. When used and placed according to the label directions, they can be used around the home. If you have pets that may chew on or play with the bait stations, we recommend placing them in locations your pets cannot reach.

Q: I see in the Q&As here that this does not work on fire ants or carpenter ants. What kind of ants does it work on?

submitted by Daria - 28 days ago
  • A: TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait Stations are designed for common household sweet-eating ants, such as odorous house ants, pavement ants, ghost ants, little black ants, Argentine ants, and other similar species. They are not recommended for fire ants, carpenter ants, pharaoh ants, or harvester ants.

Q: How would you place this near an outlet on the wall? mainly the ants are coming through there near my bed is also safe to sleep nearby it?

submitted by Cesparza - 9 months ago
  • A: To place the bait station near the outlet, you can put it on the floor directly below or to the side of the outlet. It is safe to sleep nearby as the bait stations are designed to be used indoors and the active ingredient is contained within the station.

Q: After putting the bait down, the ants start to make little clusters, grouping themselves. The instructions say not to interrupt their activity. Exactly when do I interrupt their activity? Can I kill the ones that are not going back to the main colony?

submitted by AMs Mom - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out to us with your question about TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits. We understand how tempting it can be to interrupt the ants when they begin clustering around the bait. However, it’s very important not to disturb them during this time. The ants need time to consume the bait and carry it back to their colony, where it can effectively eliminate the entire population—including the queen. Please do not kill or remove any of the ants, even if some do not appear to be returning immediately to the colony. There is no reliable way to determine which ants are from which colony, and interfering can reduce the effectiveness of the bait.

Q: Will this product kill fire ants?

submitted by MHawkins - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you very much for contacting us. Our liquid ant bait is not effective against fire ants or harvester ants, as these species primarily feed on seeds. However, we recommend using T600 Ant Dust or T1700 Outdoor Ant Killer Spray, both of which are contact killers and can help manage fire ant activity effectively.
