Book Synopsis
The definitive collection of award-winning fantasy artist Paul Bonner's work, from 2008 to the present, including Magic: The Gathering and Games Workshop, presented in 2 slipcased coffee-table hardcover volumes curated and designed by the artist. Paul Bonner is an award-winning fantasy artist who has illustrated book covers, including for J.R.R. Tolkien, and produced art for RPG, wargames and boardgame publishers Games Workshop, including on Warhammer 40,000, FASA Corporation, Riotminds, Rackham, and CMON. Down from the Mountains is the definitive collection of Paul Bonner's work, from 2008 to the present, presented in 2 slipcased coffee-table hardcover volumes curated and designed by the artist. From Riotminds' Trudvang Chronicles and Wizards of the Coast's Magic: The Gathering, to CMON's The Dead Keep and Games Workshop, Paul Bonner presents his work from sketches to final pieces, with commentary detailing the background, inspirations and reminiscences about each project.About the Author
In the nearly 20 years since his only other art book, Out of the Forests, Paul has spent most of his time back in the forests and up a few mountains, too. The inspiration and energy provided by these journeys have continued to influence his art and provide visual reference for the creatures and people that inhabit these regions. He has continued to give life to the realms of Trudvang, and spent 3 years painting the medieval denizens of The Dead Keep. His own project of Beowulf slowly progresses - though having to pay bills sadly restricts time spent on it. Searching the darkest corners of his studio and the dustiest portfolios, Paul has found old art, both college work and work that helped get him into college. Some of his first professional commissions from 80s London show that he wasn't always allowed to go off wandering where his heart took him - but he's got there now and is happily staying there.
