Born on the mainland but raised on O'ahu, Kathleen Wong is a writer who works under the philosophy that the biggest impact comes from inclusive, human-focused storytelling.
Based in Honolulu, Kathleen is currently a Consumer Travel Reporter at USA TODAY, where she covers travel news and trends as well as anything Hawaii-related. She is passionate about sustainable tourism and inclusive travel. As a freelancer, Kathleen has written for publications such as the New York Times, National Geographic, Cosmopolitan, Fast Company, the Verge and more.
Outside of her editorial work, she has extensive nonprofit communications experience and is deeply invested in bettering her community. She's previously held roles at the Honolulu Museum of Art, Hawaii Community Foundation and ACLU of Hawaii. When she's not writing, she can be found in the ocean, painting or trying a new recipe.
