The Last Starfighter blu-ray edition is not only an entertaining feel-good movie but also was the first to use CGI for its special effects. On blu-ray, the image is sharp and clear. On a 60 inch HDTV, I was able to see a lot of detail that I didn't see on the VHS version. There are scenes on Earth where the focus is on the people and the background is softened, but that is most likely due to the way it was filmed as I find my digital camera does the same. It doesn't detract from the viewing experience and is not a deal-breaker.
