Description

About the Book

When a jilted romance novelist returns to the small beach town she once loved, she discovers not only inspiration but also a romance to call her own.

Book Synopsis

When a jilted romance novelist escapes to a small beach town, the last thing she expected to find was the start of an even better love story.

In the wake of a broken engagement and the death of her last surviving family member, romance novelist Maya Reynolds moves to the haven of Coral Cove, North Carolina, to take over her great-aunt's toy store. Some of her grief is immediately eased when she is talked into adopting a kitten by the local veterinarian's daughter, eight-year-old Ashlyn.

Ashlyn's dad, local veterinarian Brody Tanner, is quickly smitten by the newest resident of his hometown--but as a single father, his focus is entirely on his little girl, and a romantic entanglement with Maya is not a distraction he is looking for.

In spite of himself, Brody's bond with Maya deepens, but in the little seaside town where Maya experienced some of her happiest childhood memories, clouds cast a shadow over her hope for the future. But together, they just might discover that sometimes happy endings happen outside the pages of Maya's novels, too.

Amy Clipston nails it again with this sweet contemporary romance. Maya Reynolds is an author who moves back to Coral Cove, to take over her aunt’s toy story. She is also coming off of a broken engagement. She befriends Brody Tanner, and his young daughter Ashlyn when a stray cat “jumps” into Maya’s life. While Maya is working on rebuilding her life in Coral Cove, she is starting tea parties at the toy shop and is facing her editor’s requests for her manuscript. Maya, Brody, and Ashlyn are spending more time together, but something is holding them back from starting a relationship. This book is filled with beautifully written characters. This book will take you on an emotional journey as Maya and Brody work through their feelings. An ex-boyfriend also makes an appearance. I don’t want to give too much away because this is a book you will want to read. I want to thank the author for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

The View from Coral Cove was just the beachy romance I never knew I needed. I became emotionally attached to the characters so much, so I tossed my book to the other side of the couch. Don’t worry; it didn’t damage the book. But, there was a particular turn of events (you have to read it to find out) that made me yell “no!!” and toss the book away from me – as though it would make things okay for Maya. I love it when I can become enamored with a story and those within.

If you enjoyed reading Amy Clipston’s contemporary romance ‘The Heart of Splendid Lake’, you will also enjoy this book. Amy is also known for her Amish novels, which I encourage anyone to check out for an enjoyable and inspirational read. Like many other great books written by Amy, ‘The View from Coral Cove’ was a page-turner! Amy devises well-thought-out plots for each of her stories that make the reader want to know what will happen next to each character. Whenever I was away from reading this book, I caught myself wondering what would happen, especially with some of the plot twists that are unexpected but keep the reader’s engaged throughout the book. Amy does a fantastic job developing each character’s personalities, backstories, strengths, and obstacles they encounter, even little furry animals. If you are familiar with Amy’s books and Amy herself, then it is no secret how much she loves cats and includes writing about some furry friends in her stories. In ‘The View from Coral Cove’, the reader will also meet a little furry friend who plays a significant part in the story. This book tells the story of a brave and courageous writer Maya Reynolds, and her return to Coral Cove, North Carolina. While trying to overcome a serious case of writer’s block for her next romance book, Maya encounters many obstacles as she becomes settled in her new job of taking over her great Aunt CeCe’s store that was left to her. As she heals from grief and heartache from the loss of her aunt and also a sudden bad breakup will she be able to endure and overcome these challenges? While settling into Coral Cove, Maya sparks up a sweet friendship with a local veterinarian, Brody Tanner, and his daughter Ashlyn. Like Maya, Brody and Ashlyn have been through a lot together. Will Maya and Brody have enough trust in each other and courage in themselves to put the heartaches of their pasts behind them and begin to move forward? With such a descriptive style of writing, I could just envision each scene Amy includes in this story. Especially what Maya’s Aunt’s toy store looked like with the Barbies, a tea display in the window, the tea room with all the Disney decals, and Brody’s and Ashlyn’s beautiful home with a “super-awesome” deck. I personally loved how Amy captured the special moments shared between Maya and the characters in this book. The bond between friendships, the pain from loss, the excitement of a child at her birthday party, and the beautiful romance building between two characters from the light touches and brushing kisses on the lips. The reader will be sure to smile, maybe have a few tears, and some warm blushing moments. I would describe this book just as Brody described Maya’s romance books “…your characters are believable, and without that, the plot doesn’t really matter” Amy’s characters are also believable which makes this story more intimate and relatable to the reader. This book would make a fantastic read while relaxing near the beach or perhaps a cove.

Amy Clipston is known mostly for her Amish fiction. I’m sure some were reluctant to read this book not being Amish fiction. I just want to tell you to pick up a copy and read her new standalone novel. You will enjoy getting to know her new characters, Maya, Brody, and Ashlyn. Her novel has an interesting plot and romance brewing. Reading about the toy shop and tea room is fun too. And one thing I really enjoyed were Amy’s awesome descriptions of where the characters are. Makes you feel like you are there too.

Wow, this was such a wonderful story that included grief, memories, love but also hope for the future. It was fun reading about the character Maya, a romance novelist, written by a romance novelist, Amy Clipston. Maya’s summer escape growing up was with her mother to the beach town of Coral Cove. They always stayed with Maya’s great aunt at her apartment above a toy store she owned. Her mother passes away, then several years later her great aunt dies. Even though the grief is hard, the memories sustain her. Finding out the building with the toy store and apartment has been left to her, she decides to pull up stakes and move, lock, stock and barrel. One of her first guests is a tiny calico kitten that hops up in her lap. Searching out the runaway is animal vet Brody and his adorable daughter Ashlyn. Putting a damper on a possible serious relationship is the fact that both Brody and Maya have heart-breaking broken engagements in their pasts. I easily cared about these three characters and felt their emotions right along with them. I invested my time and my heart and soul in this novel. I will be thinking about it for a long time to come. I hated to turn the last page but I’ll be looking forward to more novels by this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through the publisher but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise. All opinions are strictly my own.

I was drawn to this book for two reasons besides the blurb on the back. One the cover is absolutely beautiful and the other reason is that it is set in North Carolina. Now even if those two things do not draw you in then just read the blurb on the back and it will definitely have you wanting to read this book. This novel has all the elements one would want in a second chance romance. It has two people who have been previously burned by love and think they are done with it. But maybe they are not as done as they think. This book also has a really good side story that falls perfectly in line with the main burned out on love plot. I had a hard time not sitting and reading this all at once. I definitely recommend it.

May 15, 2022 · edit it was amazing Amy Clipston's most recent book is another winner !! This story centers around a young lady, Maya Reynolds,a romance author, who is reeling from being jilted and also lost in her grief after losing her great aunt and last known living relative. She comes to Coral Cove to take over the toy shop that her Aunt CeCe has left behind. Into Maya's life comes a little calico kitten who is an escapee from a nearby vet's office and who ends up playing matchmaker between Maya and Dr. Brody Tanner. Maya also becomes a positive influence on his precocious daughter, Ashlyn. There's a bit of mystery woven throughout in that a secret about Maya's long absent father comes to light and this new development may cause a big change in Maya's life. I truly enjoyed this book and would have been able to read it much quicker if I didn't have to stop and go to work !! Awesome story , Amy !!!

This was my first time reading a Contemporary Romance novel from Amy Clipston. I’m hooked after reading this book. After inheriting her Aunt’s Toy store, Maya relocated to the small town she grew up in to start fresh. While getting things organized she meets Brody and his daughter Ashlyn. They began spending a lot of time together while developing feelings. Amy takes you on a whirlwind of emotions with these two characters. Both are struggling with moving on and letting each other in. If you enjoy romance novels, you will love The View from Coral Cove.

Another wonderful book by Amy Clipston. A cozy small-town romance that will put you in the mood for summer! Clipston does a wonderful job of integrating sub-plots and other characters. Enough to keep the story interesting and flowing but not so many that it gets diluted. I absolutely LOVED all the characters and their roles in the story. I missed them the moment I closed the book. If you're interested in a clean romance that involves: a single father with a daughter you'll fall in love with, an enchanting female author who just inherited a toy store, overcoming broken hearts, a father you never knew, best-friends you can always turn to, and an adorable kitten that loves to stir things up, then this book is for you.

Totally Satisfying Contemporary Romance!

A disillusioned author, a commitment-shy single father, and a beautiful small-town setting are the promises of a great story but throw in an adorable little girl and a kitten, and you're guaranteed a winning read! In her newest book, Amy Clipston displays her special talent for creating characters we'd all like to know, placing them in realistic situations, and then helping them work their way to a happy ending. These are the keys to satisfying fans of contemporary romance, and The View from Coral Cove is definitely satisfying! Clipston poignantly shares Maya Reynold's varying emotions as she faces grief and loneliness, and her uncertainty about finding her long-absent father. She also paints a vivid picture of Brody Tanner's reluctance to allow Maya into his heart. Their slowly developing attraction is a joy to savor, but it is the special connection between Maya and Brody's daughter that is especially touching! Who wouldn't love this little girl who is also hungry for a family? If you're looking for a great beach read, grab a copy of The View from Coral Cove. It is a heartwarming story of friendship, hope, and a chance to begin again. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own thoughts.

When romance novelist, Maya Reynolds's fiance ends their engagement, she finds herself completely uninspired and unable to work on her upcoming new release. As Maya struggles with the end of her engagement and with intense writer's block, she learns that she has inherited her great-aunt Cecelia's toy store in the small, beach town of Coral Cove. Since she had always loved visiting Coral Cove, it seems like the natural thing to move there to run her aunt's store and try to find inspiration for her latest book. The last thing she expects to find is a love story of her very own! As Maya begins the process of sorting through her great-aunt's belongings, she begins to discover family secrets that she has wondered about for most of her life. She finds herself questioning everything she knows about herself and her mother and their past. As she works in the toy shop one day, she meets the very handsome local veterinarian, Brody Tanner, and his adorable daughter. While Maya finds herself drawn to both of them, it quickly becomes clear that he has secrets of his own. While he quickly becomes a good friend, will the secrets they are both carrying get in the way of building a future together? I have always enjoyed Amy's Amish novels and loved the sweet stories and relatable characters she writes. This is the first contemporary novel that I've read of Amy's and I enjoyed it even more! I absolutely related to both Maya and Brody. Maya is very relatable in her self doubts that follow the end of her engagement. I loved watching as the friendship between Maya and Brody progressed, but I especially loved her interactions with Ashlyn. The bond between Maya and Ashlyn was really just too adorable. All of the adults in the story were incredibly relatable and it was interesting watching as they grow and learn from mistakes and past challenges . The entire story was just a fun, sweet read and I want to move to Coral Cove! **I received a copy of this novel from Netgalley and Amy Clipston in exchange for an honest review. The contents of this review have not been affected by this and all opinions expressed are my own.**

I should firstly like to say thank you for my ARC of this book. I was not coerced to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own. Amy has another huge hit on her hands. She is definitely one of my most favorite authors. Whether she is writing a contemporary romance, an Amish romance or a novella/story in a compilation, she gets to the heart of the matter very early on so she grips me and draws me in from the very first sentence. This was a 5 star read for me, more if I could have given it even more. The characters were believable and I could relate to Brody and Maya both wanting to protect their hearts. Ashlyn was a truly wonderful addition to the book. I would like to be her mom too. I can't imagine any woman who wouldn't want to be. I truly enjoyed welcoming Maya's father into the story and was very delighted how that turned out. Yes, it had the one bad boy but there was nothing attractive to me about this guy and I usually love the bad boys. This was a one sitting read for me and I loved it from the very first word to the very last. Amy thank you for such a wonderful contemporary novel and I can't wait to see where your next book takes us. If you have never read Amy before this is a great one to start with especially if you love beach read romances. For fans of Amy this is another must read. Again, thanks for my ARC and all opinions expressed in this review are my own.

A heartwarming tale!

The View from Coral Cove by Amy Clipston takes us to Coral Cove, North Carolina where Maya Reynolds has relocated. Her favorite memories are the summers she spent with her Aunt CeCe. Her great-aunt has just passed away leaving her toy store to Maya. Maya, a novelist, can work from anywhere. It is a good time for a fresh start since her fiancé broke up with her and has moved to England. Maya is in the Barbie aisle when a kitten rushes in and jumps in her lap purring away. A little girl soon follows along with her handsome veterinarian father. Eight-year-old Ashlyn Tanner convinces Maya to adopt the calico kitten. Brody is attracted to Maya, but he is determined to be a good father and keep his focus on his daughter. Maya is attracted to Brody, but she is afraid of getting her heart broken again. Maya has writers block and a looming deadline. She is going through an old photo album when Maya discovers a letter from her Aunt CeCe. Maya has always wondered about her father, but it was something her mother did not wish to discuss. In the letter, her great-aunt reveals the truth. It sends Maya on a search for her father. It is going to be an eventful summer in Coral Cove. The View from Coral Cove is a charming tale about new beginning, healing, friendship, trust, and love. I thought The View from Coral Cove was well-written with developed, realistic characters. Amy Clipston provided beautiful descriptions of Coral Cove. I could envision the beach town with its quaint shops and friendly residents. I would love to live in Brody’s home with its beautiful beach views. I thought the dialogue was realistic. My favorite character was Ashlyn. She is a scene stealer. Ashlyn is a precocious little girl. Brody and Ashlyn run a cat rescue. They regularly hold cat adoption events with plenty of help from Ashlyn (who can resist). The romance is the slow burn type since both parties have had their hearts broken and are scared to trust their hearts to someone. I enjoyed watching the characters develop as the story progressed. Maya has insecurities because she was told that her father did not want her. I thought the author handled this issue very well. The View from Coral Cove is a sweet, wholesome romance. This book would make a great movie (toy store owner, handsome vet with cute little girl, a lovable kitten, and a beach town). The View from Coral Cove is the perfect novel to read while lounging on the beach or by the pool. I loved the epilogue that nicely wrapped up the story. The View from Coral Cove will leave you with a smile on your face. The View from Coral Cove is a heartwarming tale with a beautiful beach, a charming child, an attractive veterinarian, an enchanting toy shop, an obstructed writer, and a matchmaking cat.

I have been a fan of this author for many years. Maya's great aunt has passed away and she inherits her toy store. Here in her new setting she adopts a kitty, meets a veterinarian, Brody and his daughter Ashlyn. As she goes through her aunt's belongings, she finds the secret withheld from her for her entire life. The story is a sweet romance and the theme of overcoming some of our past life events, and moving on with life, love and happiness. The location is a beautiful and cozy town along the coast with enjoyable characters. The story was a good read and tells a sweet tale. I received an ebook copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
