Thomas & Friends Motorized Thomas Toy Train Engine

We’ve always loved the Thomas and Friends brand, and our son was so excited to open his new Percy train. But within 20 minutes of taking it out of the box, the motorized wheels got caught in his hair. The train wouldn’t stop spinning, and it became tangled so close to his scalp that we had to act quickly to remove it. It was terrifying and traumatic for all of us — especially our child. We never imagined a toy made for kids could pose such a danger. I’m shocked this passed safety testing, considering how quickly the moving parts became a hazard. This toy looks fun and harmless, but it was not safe in our experience. We urge the company to review the design of this product. Until then, please think twice before giving it to a child with longer hair. We’re deeply disappointed and truly hope no other families have to go through something like this.

Just came here to say the same that other reviewers had. I actually don’t know where this toy came from for us, I found it in the box in a closet. I gave it to my four year old who loved it, seemed like a fun toy until he told us it was stuck in his hair and my when I tell you, it was so tangled in his hair all the way up against his scalp it took at least 15 minutes of working to cut it out. I was really freaked bc it was so close to the scalp I didn’t think we were going to be able to do it on our own. I just came here to post this warning for other parents and see (and am not surprised) it’s happened to many others.

Extremely dangerous! Got tangled in my son’s hair and needed to be cut out. Horrible design, it is a shame because he loves it.

It literally just the train it's gives more collection than play vibes but My son loves Thomas SO hopefully he loves it !

Purchased this & cannot open the train to insert the batteries. What a waste. Not likely to recommend or purchase from this line again. What a shame that is so poorly designed

Such a cute toy! It requires 2 AAA batteries and moves quite good!

While I don't like the new All Engines Go series I do love the simplistic toys. I can easily carry these on the go in my hand, pocket or bag. I will soon repaint the face as I don't like how child like these engines look but otherwise these are perfect for collectors of all ages if they can get past not liking the All Engines Go series itself.

The price point for the smallest train.... is kind of ridiculous. I don't even see how the dimensions add up to the description because it is not 5" tall... waste of money. 0 stars if that was an option

My son loves his new motorized toy train. He switched from his old superhero towel to this one. It's a big hit!

My kids don't like the All Engines Go toys, and I haven't found anyone yet who does. We miss the Thomas and Friends line of toys. The massive price jump is going to destroy what used to be a really nice toy. I would have paid a little more for the old Trackmaster trains, maybe $10-$12 instead of $7, but $25 is out of the question, even for the old version. I can't imagine any features that would justify that price. The only reason this toy has such a high review score is because it's still under the same listing as the old version, which was far superior.

Great buy for Thomas the Trains fans! Compatible with other trackmaster sets. Motorized engine with sounds, talks, and auto shut off. Easy button activation. Fantastic addition to collection.

Caboose keeps coming off which upsets my toddler. Also got caught in my hair and I had to cut a portion of my own hair out. Do NOT recommend.

How this toy hasn’t been pulled from shelves yet is unreal. It got caught in my child’s hair today and we had to cut his hair out, which was very traumatizing. And before that it pinched my daughter’s finger. It clearly has design flaws. Do not buy!

I bought this for $6.99 about 3 months ago. How do you justify quadrupling the price to $25??? It doesn’t even come with batteries.

Fun but then it got caught in my 4yo’s hair. Was supervised, just happened fast. We will still play with it, without batteries.

My son loves these trains. They did get caught on his skin once but has since figured out how to play with it safely. I don’t know if understand why this is currently $24.99 online when in stores I got this for $6.99. Ridiculous price gouging

My 4 year old is definitely rough with his toys and he loves to watch Thomas go. His favorite thing is to watch Thomas fall off the kitchen table. I understand that maybe that's not how you're supposed to play with Thomas...BUT the previous models of this toy were sooooo much better. They've been thrown and have fallen off things of many heights and they still work to this day. This new cheaply made version of Thomas was a disappointment.

We are disappointed that the only Thomas toys available to buy anymore are from the AEG reboot, which my 5 + 6 yr old kids are incredibly sad about. We used to spend a lot of money at Target on Thomas and Friends toys, but kids want nothing to do with All Engines Go as it does not represent anything even close to the characters they love and is mainly only appealing to toddler/early preschool age range.
