She was behind the scenes and witnessed history in the making during the student protests in Tiananmen Square; the Oklahoma City bombing; the Columbine shooting; the Discovery Launch with John Glenn; the death of James Byrd Jr. in Jasper, Texas; Hurricane Georges; and World Youth Day. Her work settings included Air Force I, CBS News, Cape Canaveral, Tiananmen Square, Moscow, and the jail cell of Jasper, Texas. Throughout this time, she perfected the LuAnn Mancini line of cosmetics, created the LuAnn Mancini Studio dealing almost exclusively in makeup, and crafted one of the first airbrushes in the cosmetics industry.
