To Tame a Cowboy - by Jody Hedlund (Hardcover)

To Tame a Cowboy is written by Jody Hedlund. This is book 3 of 4 in the Colorado Cowboy series. I have not read the other books in the series, but I was able to read with no issues. I will be going back and reading the other books, because I enjoyed seeing this family. This book is set right after the Civil War, which is one of my favorite time periods. The book is about 341 pages and flowed nicely. I am a huge fan of this author and her work, so I am always excited when I get to read it. We meet Brody McQuaid in this story. He has PTSD due to being in war. He has been home for two years, but is still struggling. Sometimes he lashes out and it’s violently. He saw a lot during his time in the Civil War. I love how the author created a flawed, damaged character. Savannah Marshall is expected to marry a man she does not want to do. She really tries to keep her father happy. Especially after the tragic death of her brother. But she does not want to marry Chandler Saxton. So she leaves. Savannah is a veterinarian. However, Chandler did not want her to work outside the home. Brody and Savannah are brought together by their passion for the wild horses. I loved seeing their romance blossom. The author did a great job in reminding us that God is the ultimate redeemer.

I could not wait to read this book! To Tame a Cowboy is the third book in the Colorado Cowboys series, and having read the first two, I knew I was going to enjoy this one . After reading it, I have to say I think it’s my favorite in this series! Brody had my heart from the beginning. The war took many things from him and no one blames him for being a little messed up. All that his siblings want is for him to be happy and healthy. His bleeding heart reached out to me, and I loved watching him learn to live again. Savannah would do almost anything for her parents, which includes marrying a man she could never love as a wife should. But when her passion for taking care of animals is threatened, all bets are off. I loved seeing her in action, and Brody could tell she was made to care for animals. Watching them interact was so much fun, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. My attention was kept the entire time and I enjoyed watching all of the different family dynamics. Hedlund had me on the edge of my seat a time or two, and I couldn’t get enough. To Tame a Cowboy is the third installment from Jody Hedlund’s Colorado Cowboys series. I have always adored her historical novels and this one is no different. It was great to go back in time in Colorado. I loved getting to know Savannah and Brody and I was quickly caught up in their story. I enjoyed the adventure, mystery, romance and the element of faith within the pages. It was fun to learn a little bit about early veterinarian practices, also. There was nothing I did not love about this tale. It was fabulous. To Tame a Cowboy will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean Historical Romantic Fiction. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book from the Colorado Cowboys series, Falling for the Cowgirl, to see what happens next.
