*Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications are based upon test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate and wireless coverage are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. Actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, Internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.

Q: Does it have a separate wifi name and password from the main router?
A: Hi Amanda, The RE205 Wi-Fi Range Extender shares the same wireless passwords as those of your main networks when operating in Range Extender Mode. However, in Access Point Mode (wired to your router via Ethernet cable), you can set a separate Wi-Fi password than the one on your Main Wi-Fi Network.

Q: Will this work to pick up WiFi inside of a metal shed?
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about the TP-Link AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender - White (RE205) No, a standard Wi-Fi range extender like the TP-Link AC750 (RE205) will not work well to extend a signal inside a metal shed. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day between 7 am and 11 pm CST.
submitted byRena - 2 months agoTarget expert supportA: Hi mary, Placing a Wi-Fi range extender in a metal shed is not recommended, because the metal walls and roof create the equivalent of a Faraday cage, which blocks wireless signals. Think of it like trying to listen to the radio inside a metal box—the signal can't get in or out. Similarly, this also weakens Wi-Fi signals, which may lead to a slow, or non-existent connection.

Q: Can this be used for rv’s to connect to campground WiFi
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about TP-Link AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender - White (RE205). Yes, the TP-Link AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE205) can technically be used in an RV to connect to campground WiFi. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.
submitted byJoe - 2 months agoTarget staff supportA: It actually depends on several factors. If the campground uses a captive portal for authentication, then the answer is likely no. If it uses a traditional SSID and Password, then it may be possible, but several factors have to be considered, such as signal strength, AP/Router security, ACL settings, and the physical area you are putting the Extender.

Q: Do I need more than 1 Extender
A: Hi Angelboriqua007, The number of Wi-Fi Extenders you need will depend on how many "Wi-Fi Dead Zones" you have in your home, the position of your router, and the overall layout of your home. We recommend starting with one Wi-Fi Extender and positioning it as optimally as possible before determining whether additional extenders are needed.
submitted byTPLinkSupport - 2 months agoBrand expertA: Hi Angelboriqua007, thanks for reaching out about TP-Link AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender - White (RE205).
