Description

About the Book

Libby Kingsley dreams of a new life and a new library for the charming town of Heritage, Michigan. Things get complicated when her big ideas threaten Austin William's blueprints and his plan to leave town unattached.

Book Synopsis

When she hears that the small town of Heritage, Michigan, is looking for a new librarian, Libby Kingsley jumps at the opportunity. Little did she know the library is barely more than a storage closet stuffed with dusty, outdated books. What the community really needs is a new building. But the only funds available are those being channeled into the new town square, and the landscape architect in charge of the project wants nothing to do with her plans.

All Austin Williams wants to do is get the town square project finished so he can do right by the family business and then extricate himself from the town that reveres the brother who cost him so much. But the local media and the town's new librarian seem to be conspiring against him at every turn. Will the determined bookworm find her way into his blueprints--and possibly even his heart?

Novelist Tari Faris invites you back to the small town with a big heart in this second book in the Restoring Heritage series.

SMALL-TOWN ROMANCES

4 out of 5 stars
Connywithay - 5 years ago
“I swear, until I met you, I didn’t know someone could cause my life so much chaos,” Libby is told in Tari Faris’s novel, Until I Met You. ~ What ~ The second in the Restoring Heritage series, this three-hundred-and-fifty-two-page paperback targets those interested in a contemporary romance in an inter-connected Midwest town. With no profanity, topics of illness, alcohol use, and premarital relations may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending includes an excerpt from an upcoming novel, acknowledgments, and the author’s biography. In this story set in Heritage, Michigan, Libby Kingsley wants a fresh start in life when she moves to a small town to become its librarian. When she meets Austin, a landscaping architect working on the town’s community square, her emotions flip-flop on if she can work together with him to improve the library and trust him. While his brother and her roommate struggle with their complicated relationship, all four must find a way to move on from the hurts of their past, trust and forgive each other, and learn that grace can be given and accepted. ~ Why ~ This is a fast, quick read about how broken people uncover why they have conflict, disappointment, and sorrow due to their pasts and overcome them. I like the small-town environment that is charming and unassuming. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not understand the charm of small-town living may not enjoy this read that focuses on working together to beautify their community while deepening relationships. Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like the references of God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Sometimes the main characters often get wishy-washy on what they want so may frustrate the reader. ~ Wish While the book is a romance, its kissing scenes could be considered a little over the top in their descriptions. I wish they were toned down a little and all pronouns of God were capitalized. This is the final book in the series yet there are plenty of loose ends with many of the peripheral characters. ~ Want ~ If you enjoy a small-town romance that concentrates on understanding grace and forgiveness, this is a breezy read that brings several couples to a better understanding of each other and themselves. Thanks to Revell to this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

Absolutely Fantastic

I absolutely adored this story! Tari Faris has a way of writing a story that pulls you in, gets you all emotionally invested, and doesn't release until you've read the last page! Until I Met You is exactly that. The characters are well written and likeable, the setting is fantastic, the town is just quirky enough to be interesting, and the romance is perfect! It keeps you interested and invested, but not cheesy or unrealistic. Very well written story. I cant wait for Ms. Faris' next book! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Even better than book one!

No sophomore slump here—Tari Faris's second full-length novel is even better than the first! From the moment I began reading Until I Met You, I was completely swept up into the story. This book focuses on the Williams brothers: landscape architect Austin and Pastor Nate. They have a prodigal son vibe going on, with Nate being the reformed prodigal and Austin being the older brother. I definitely wanted to shake some sense into Nate a time or two (seriously, how difficult is it to pick up a phone and shoot off a text when plans change?), but there's a strong focus on grace and forgiveness intertwined in his story (both for others and for yourself) that will resonate with most readers. Also, this novel provides two romances for the price of one, as each Williams brother finds love. Libby and Austin were just delightful—I loved how Libby came out of her shell around Austin and wasn't afraid to confront him. They truly brought out the best in each other. And, after watching Nate and Olivia dance around each other in previous books, I loved seeing their romance play out here. Until I Met You is another solid entry in the Restoring Heritage series. I highly recommend it to fans of small town romance! 5 stars. Note: While this is the second book in the series, you can enjoy it without first having read the prequel novella or book one. But I do think the book will be more meaningful if you have that background information. Disclosure of material connection: I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.

Great read!

If you get the chance, read the prequel novella to the series, P.S. Goodbye, and the first book, You Belong With Me. These will give you a good introduction to the town of Heritage, Otis, and a lot of the characters you’ll meet in this new book. Once again, Faris’ characters are “real people,” and the story drew me in right away. You get to know more about some characters from the first books, and meet other new ones. I had a hard time putting the book down. There are plenty of unexpected plot twists to keep things interesting. I kept chuckling over the humorous dialogue in a number of scenes. I really cared about the characters sorting out their relationships and making the right choices. I highly recommend this book! I wish I didn’t have to wait another year for the next one! I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book with no obligation to post a review

Fabulous Must Read!!!

Oh My Stars! What a beautiful, amazing book! I became a forever fan of Tari Faris' books last year when I read her novella P.S. Goodbye, and fell even deeper in love with her books when I read You Belong With Me! I seriously didn't think this author's writing could get any more amazing, but I was proven wrong! One of the things I love about this author's books is that they feature two love stories. I loved Libby and Austin, their story was wonderful and I was rooting for them from the start, though as much as I loved Libby and Austin's story I think Nate and Olivia's story was definitely my favorite! I have been head over heels in love with Nate since he first appeared in P.S. Goodbye and I've been eagerly anticipating his story, it was everything I had dreamed it would be and so much more! Reading this book is pure bliss, it made me so giddy-happy, and I couldn't stop smiling while I read it! Until I Met You is now my favorite Tari Faris book so far, it made me laugh out loud, touched every part of my heart, and made me swoon more times than I can count! Heritage is one of my very favorite fictional towns (I wish I could live there) and I just adore Otis the hippo! Saying I loved this book doesn't come close to describing the depth of my adoration for it, but sadly I can't come up with a more eloquent way to say it so this will have to do: I loved every single moment of this book and hated to stop reading! Until I Met You is one for the keeper shelf (I already want to re-read it!) it's one of my top ten favorite reads of 2020 and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! I most highly recommend Until I Met You! If you are a fan of Christian contemporary romance, especially Susan May Warren's books you need to read Tari Faris! You don't want to miss a single moment of the amazingness that is the Restoring Heritage series! (5 Stars, but I'd give it every star in the sky if I could!) I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own!

Sweet, Small Town Romance!

3 out of 5 stars
Rebecca Maney - 5 years ago
"Why do we have such a hard time being friends?" It may have all started after Libby Kingsley's dog postponed Austin William's opportunity to breed his own dog, due to a not-so-little- as-it-turned-out misunderstanding about fences. Libby's welcome mat shrunk even further when her brother and sister-in-law unexpectedly headed to the hospital with a medical emergency just minutes after her arrival in Heritage, leaving Libby alone in their home with several simple tasks; one of them being, "Would you mind delivering the cookies while they are fresh?". And thus, the so-called "friendship" with Mr. Mean Hot Neighbor began. Libby had come to Heritage with high hopes of starting over. Becoming the librarian in the small up and coming (they hoped) little town was a dream come true for her. However, her expectations quickly dimmed when the town's library turned out to be an old dusty room in the the basement of Heritage's town hall; piled high with dirty, outdated books. Would moving and renovating an old one room school house into a new library be worth working with Austin Williams and his brother, Nate? Now those two have a history of their own that needs a make-over. Grace and forgiveness take center stage in this light, easy read. Or perhaps it isn't so light after all when you consider the spiritual challenges this book navigates with the steadying power of the Gospel. While the characters and dialogue could benefit from a bit more development, the messaging is authentic and the romantic tensions more than guarantee some intense page turning. "Forgiveness is never deserved. It's a gift. It you can earn a gift, it's not a gift anymore - - - it's a wage." I received a copy of this book from Baker Publishing through Interviews and Reviews. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

If you’re following the Heritage series, you won’t be disappointed in this new story! It’s sooo good! I love the way the dual romance storylines weave together as estranged brothers, Austin and Nate reconcile. I feel like I’m part of Heritage as the square comes together and I revisit my favorites characters and meet some new ones, too. I was soo anxious to see Nate and Olivia's story unfold after hints of it from the previous stories and Libby and Austin were such great relatable characters to get to know. Faris knocked it out of the park on this one. Don't miss it! (I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.)

Sweet Story

Melmo2610 - 5 years ago
This was such a sweet story. Libby was such a likable character and Austin was definitely swoon worthy. I really enjoyed the bonus romance of Nate and Olivia too. I also loved that Tari incorporated not only one of my favorite quotes, "Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage," from the movie "We Bought A Zoo but the book "The Hiding Place," by Corrie Ten Boom. Those additional elements were a perfect addition to the story line, and thrilled my heart. I am looking forward to more stories from Tari about the town of Heritage and its inhabitants. They are so much fun. I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Amazing Read

This book was outstanding! And it's packed full of all the feels a sweet, clean romance should have. Tari Faris knocked it out of the park. Engaging characters, spiritual truth embedded in a powerful plot, and of course a brass hippo. The characters and subplot wove together to create great a story that draws you in and keeps the pages turning. Already ready to read the next book.

Fantastic contemporary romance

5 out of 5 stars

"Forgiveness is never deserved. It's a gift. If you earn a gift, it's not a gift anymore - it's a wage... Unforgiveness breeds anger and bitterness. I don't want that for me. And I don't want it for them. Because that kind of bitterness spills all over those close to you." What an incredible novel. Until I Met You is one of the best summer reads of 2020! Tari Faris' second novel will make you laugh, dance with joy, sob with the heartbreaks yet remain hopeful as two couples find themselves and each other in a small Michigan town called Heritage. This book has everything a reader could ask for in an inspirational contemporary romance book - fun antics and great banter between Austin and Libby, achingly beautiful friendship with regrets between Nate and Olivia, outside forces pulling the brothers Austin and Nate apart, broken pasts that need to be forgiven, and grace that covers all. You will never want to leave Heritage once you step inside this town and get to know the people who make Heritage what it is. I would recommend reading the prequel novella and the first book in the series to acquaint yourself with the cast of characters; it will make for a richer reading experience. Nate's brother Austin is in town just to rebuild the town square as a landscape architect so that he can resuscitate his family's business. Luke's sister Libby becomes Austin's next door neighbor and is also new to town as the town librarian hired to resuscitate the library. Their first encounter starts on the wrong foot and their interactions go further sideways every time they meet. Austin's grumpiness and Libby's anxiety both hide their past hurts but their softer and sweeter sides emerge as their relationship blossoms. Nate, the pastor in town, and Olivia, a journalist whose roots are in Heritage, are not newcomers to the series but their story finally plays out in this book. Nate's struggle with his past and truly accepting forgiveness and Olivia's frustration with finding peace and fulfillment in love and career are so real, raw, and heart-wrenching. I received a copy of the book from Revell/Baker Publishing Group and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Double romance and the struggle to forgive

Ja Net - 5 years ago
Until I Met You was a fun read with all the feels. Libby’s determination to make a new life, Austin and Nate’s struggle to make peace and build a friendship, their challenges with their aging father, and of course, the double romance, make this book interesting and relatable. The strong message of the power of forgiveness and the struggle to forgive was inspiring. I loved it and I am eager to return to Heritage for more!

Another amazing story about the small town of Heritage and it’s inhabitants. This is Austin’s story. And Libby. And then there’s also a secondary line running through about Nate and Olivia. The main focus in this book is forgiveness. Grace. So much truth here. I really appreciate the beautifully depicted word picture of undeserved grace. Romance With Lots of Drama

Libby moved to Heritage to begin a new job as the librarian and have a fresh start after a traumatic event. At the same time, Pastor Nate’s brother, Austin, moves to Heritage as well to begin landscaping work and to help keep a close eye on their father. Soon these two spend more time together and begin to work together to get the library opened. Meanwhile, Olivia and Nate keep dancing around the idea of a relationship, but secrets of Nate’s past creep up on him straining his friendship with Olivia. In some ways we can all relate to each of these four characters and the conflict they go through. Until I Met You will leave you cheering, crying happy tears, and rooting for each of these characters until the very end. I graciously received an advance reader copy of this book from Revell for review. All opinions are my own.

Until I Met You by Tari Faris Book 2 in the Restoring Heritage series Rating: 4/5 Tari Faris definitely knows how to portray such heartfelt characters with their own strengths and weaknesses. The reader is once again drawn into the small town charm of Heritage and it's fun to "see" characters from the first book. For me, this story was not only about romance but it was about the relationship between two brothers. Austin temporarily moves to Heritage to do a landscaping job but refuses to live with his brother, Nate, who already lives there and is the local pastor. Austin meets Libby, his neighbor who also just arrived to become the new librarian. The two have their own pasts to deal with and overcome in order to move on with their lives. Nate is battling his own demons of the past and finds it hard to give himself a chance at love with Olivia, Libby's new roommate. Olivia is tired of waiting for Nate to make up his mind about them and tries to find a journalism job out of state. Can these two couples find a way to work together and find forgiveness and love? These intertwined love stories were masterfully written and the depth of brother's characters was very well done. The incorporation of faith and forgiveness was vital for the characters and I was impressed with how the author dealt with the effects of holding onto unforgiveness. My thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

Love this series!

I've loved Tari Faris since her first prequel novel, P.S. Goodbye and her first in the Restoring Heritage series, You Belong to Me. And Until I Met You is a wonderful continuation of the stories of people in Heritage, Michigan. This book actually tells the stories of two couples, Austin and Libby who are both new to Heritage and Nate and Olivia who live and work there. I remembered Nate as the pastor in the previous book so I felt like I knew him and was more anxious to hear his story. The theme of forgiveness is a huge part of this story. Austin really struggles with this, his anger and his need for perfection. Nate has a history of which he has not forgiven himself. And these two are brothers with a lot of other things going on in their lives! Tari has a wonderful way of writing clean, inspirational fiction. Her books flow and are easy to read. Recommended!

Enjoyable Book Full of Grace

5 out of 5 stars
Becca - 5 years ago
If you enjoy quirky small-town settings with clean romance and characters full of depth, it’s a pretty safe bet you’ll enjoy this book. I certainly did. It’s about a young woman named Libby looking for a fresh start as the new librarian in Heritage, Michigan. When she discovers the current library is practically nothing more than a rundown closet, she decides the town needs a new building. Trouble is there are no funds for that sort of project since the town is already involved in creating a new town square. To get access to those funds, she needs Austin Williams, the landscape architect, to jump on board with her idea. Unfortunately, he’s not keen on accommodating a new library building into his plans any more than he is on getting involved with the woman trying to mess up those plans. At least to begin with… What I loved most about this book was that the storyline for the secondary characters kept me just as engaged as the storyline for the main characters. I liked how the plot weaved back and forth between Austin and the strained relationship he has with his brother, Nate, while also developing a strong romance thread for each of them. This is the second book in the Restoring Heritage series. I read the first book, but to be honest, I’ve read a lot of books between that book and this one, and though I remember enjoying the first book a lot, I don’t remember all the details. All that to say I don’t think it’s necessary to have read the first book in order to enjoy this one. But again, if you enjoy quirky small-town settings with clean romance and characters full of depth, why not read the first book too? I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book with no obligation to post a review. All opinions are my own.

Great book

With small town charm and beautifully crafted characters, Until I Met You, the second installment of author Tari Faris’ Restoring Heritage series, is sure to delight readers of contemporary romance. Readers can start with this book and fully understand the storyline, but to get the full enjoyment of the Restoring Heritage series, I recommend reading P.S. Goodbye (the prequel novella) and You Belong With Me (book one) first. These books are a great introduction to many of the characters who will play an important role in the Restoring Heritage series. Realistically flawed characters, estranged brothers, strong bonds of friendship, and small town life…I loved everything about this novel! I have been looking forward to reading Until I Met You ever since I read book one when it released last year. This book focuses on Libby and Austin’s story, along with Pastor Nate and Olivia’s secondary storyline. Beloved characters from book one including Hannah, Luke, Thomas, Janie, and many more familiar townspeople have appearances throughout the book. With her stellar writing and bits of humor sprinkled throughout her books, Tari Faris has quickly risen to the top as one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. Until I Met You is highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance, especially readers who enjoy novels by authors such as Denise Hunter, Becky Wade, Courtney Walsh, Melissa Tagg, and Susan May Warren. In future installments of the Restoring Heritage series, I would love for Luke’s brothers to have their stories told, especially Liam, who I have been curious about ever since I was introduced to him in book one. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

Amazing Sequel

5 out of 5 stars

Until I Met You by Tari Faris is a mesmerizing read. To classify it as simply romance would be such a disservice to the brilliance of this work. This book follows the author’s debut novel, You Belong to Me. I loved that book, but this book is her best yet. Ms Faris skillfully weaves issues of forgiveness and past hurts into the lives of her characters and does not avoid hard questions about God and His nature. Her characters are so real and vivid that their wrestling with their pasts feels just as real to the reader. There are no easy answers here. But this book is such a ray of hope, hope in a God who sees us as we are and loves us thoroughly. Add to these themes the idyllic town of Heritage and lovely, clean romance— I cannot imagine a better read. I highly recommend this book and think it would appeal widely to readers. I cannot wait for book 3! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Until I Met You

Libby dreams of a new life and a new library for Heritage, Michigan, little did she know that the current one is no more than a storage closet stuffed with dusty, out of date books. She knows that the town desperately needs a new library, but the only money available is being used to build a new town square. Austin Williams, a landscape architect living in Heritage wishes to have a relationship with his brothers and do right with the family business. He is trying to find his way in life and Libby is trying to rebuild her life. I fell in love with the story as the author tackles tough subjects. Courage, peace, chaos and love and to trust that God knows where we should be at just the right time. If your looking for a clean, contemporary romance this is it. I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinion’s are my own.
