Nightbane is a gripping follow-up to Lightlark that dives deep into Isla’s struggles after the Centennial game. She’s dealing with power, guilt, and the weight of leadership, and Alex Aster does a fantastic job showing her internal conflict. I loved the emotional tension between Isla, Grim, and Oro, and the flashbacks added depth to their relationships. While the pacing slowed at times and some plot points felt a little repetitive, the story is full of suspense, heart, and stakes that keep you turning pages. The ending left me eager for the next installment — this is a must-read for fans of dark, character-driven fantasy.
