Frustrated & Disappointed – Damaged Shelves After Hours of Assembly

I’m currently pregnant and spent over two hours carefully putting this bookshelf together for my baby’s room. Everything was going well until the very last steps when I noticed that two of the shelves were badly cracked and split, making them completely unstable and unsafe for use. I immediately called Target customer service and explained the issue, hoping they could just send me replacement shelves — which seems like a reasonable request given how far I got into assembly and the fact that it was clearly a manufacturer defect. However, I was informed that because this is a Target Plus item (third-party seller), my only option is to return the entire unit and repurchase it. Not only is that inconvenient, but it’s extremely frustrating to have to completely disassemble something I already spent time and energy building — especially in my condition — and then start over from scratch. I will not be buying any Target Plus items in the future. This experience has been discouraging, inconvenient, and not at all customer-friendly.

I have never written a review about anything before, but I want to make sure no one else wastes their money on this. The picture they provide is false advertising in my opinion. I knew this wouldn’t be the highest of quality, but it’s truly one of the worst purchases I have ever made.
