Q: Does this have to have a hose hooked up to it?

A: Hi: Do you mean the water hose to take the water into the water playsets? It doesn't need. Only pour the water one-time and apply the manual pump, kids can manually pressurise water to a high level and then watch the water flow from high to low level, they can observe and learn how water moves, lifts and climbs as they play, combine education with pleasure， and gates for 2-3 children to play together in the backyard, on the beach, and the grass or poolside.

$83 for THIS?! This is hands down the most frustrating toy we've ever purchased — and we've seen a lot. Assembly was a nightmare: the instructions were useless, the parts didn’t align, and the materials felt like they’d snap if you breathed too hard. It’s flimsy, confusing, and obnoxiously overcomplicated for something that should be fun. For the price, you'd expect quality. Instead, you get frustration, disappointment, and a headache. If you’re considering this toy because of the positive reviews — trust us, those folks must have a much higher tolerance (or lower standards). Save your money.

Not worth it.
Very disappointing product, especially for the price. Assembling it was absolutely painful and it’s not all that sturdy. Kids need to lean on it to reach the center because of its size which should be fine, but the pieces come apart very easily.
