Q: I have a Victrola Kingfield, and recently purchased one of the small vinyl records. I noticed that this record player has a 45 adapter, but am unsure how to use it. Any advice? Thanks! -New to Vinyl
A: Hi AG415, thanks for reaching out about Victrola The Kingfield Bluetooth Record Player Shelf System with Bookshelf Speakers. Welcome to the wonderful world of vinyl! It's great you're exploring different types of records. You're absolutely right that the Victrola Kingfield comes with a 45 adapter, and it's essential for playing those "small vinyl records" you mentioned. These are commonly known as 7-inch singles and they almost always have a larger center hole than a standard 12-inch LP (Long Play) record. This large hole was originally designed for jukeboxes. Here's how to use the 45 adapter on your Victrola Kingfield: 1. Locate the 45 Adapter: Your Victrola Kingfield likely has a small, often plastic, circular disc that sits on the spindle (the center post) of the turntable, or it might be stored in a little slot near the platter. This is your 45 adapter. 2. Place the Adapter on the Turntable: Take the 45 adapter and place it directly over the main spindle in the center of your record player's platter. It should fit snugly over the spindle and essentially make the spindle wider, filling the large center hole of your 7-inch record. 3. Set the Speed to 45 RPM: Look for the speed selector switch on your Victrola Kingfield. This is usually a small switch or knob near the tonearm. Change the speed setting from 33 1/3 RPM (for LPs) to 45 RPM. This is crucial, as 7-inch singles are designed to be played at this faster speed. 4. Place Your 7-Inch Record: Gently hold your 7-inch vinyl record by the edges (try to avoid touching the grooves). Carefully place the record down onto the platter, so that the large center hole of the record fits over the now-wider spindle created by the 45 adapter. The adapter ensures the record is centered and spins correctly. 5. Begin Playback: Use the cueing lever (if your Kingfield has one) to gently raise the tonearm. Position the stylus (needle) over the outermost groove of the record. Gently lower the tonearm using the cueing lever, or manually place it down carefully. That's it! Your small vinyl record should now play correctly. Why is the 45 adapter necessary? If you try to play a 7-inch record with the large hole directly on the small spindle without the adapter, the record will wobble and not spin consistently. This would lead to poor sound quality (pitch fluctuations, distortion) and could potentially damage your record or even your stylus. The adapter ensures stability and proper playback. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Is it normal for our Victrola to skip and be wobbly? The record does not spin flat there is a tilt to it. Just checking to see if this is faulty or to be expected. Thank you
A: Hi Future oriented, thanks for reaching out about Victrola The Kingfield Bluetooth Record Player Shelf System with Bookshelf Speakers A Victrola record player platter may wobble, but this is usually normal and not a cause for concern. However, if the wobbling is causing the vinyl to skip, you can try these fixes: Level the turntable: Make sure the player is on a flat surface. Check the belt: If the turntable is belt-driven, a loose or damaged belt can cause uneven rotation. Clean the record: Clean the vinyl record and the cartridge and stylus. Calibrate the tracking force: Adjust the force that the needle applies to the record's grooves. Check the platter: Inspect the platter for any issues. Replace the cartridge: If the cartridge is defective, try replacing it. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.
