Terrible, gasoline smell lingering for weeks

This is a comfortable desk chair but unfortunately mine came with a terrible gasoline smell in the fabric that has rubbed off on a few of my clothes. I've tried a vinegar spritz, febreeze, time out in the sun, and baking soda but the odor lingers. The odor rubs off on clothing which then rubs off on other surfaces I've rested my back against e.g. car seat and thus it becomes a truly awful experience of noticing the gas odor everywhere you go. Maybe it will finally disappear in a few more weeks but so far, no luck. In my experience of buying upholstered desk chairs, this is the first time it has been so unpleasant.
