Violife Just Like Mozzarella Shreds Vegan Cheese Alternative - 8oz

Bought it, brought it home and it was expired. I went back to do a return and buy one that was still in date but all the ones on the floor were expired as well.

I will echo what many others have already said: The new shreds are terrible (mozzarella and cheddar were the two I used to buy regularly). They have a different texture, strange smell, and funny after taste. It's really disappointing, as these used to be our go-to for pasta dishes, pizza, tacos, burritos, etc. I will no longer be purchasing these. The old recipe was fabulous. Please bring it back!

Please change the ingredients back. This is the only cheese I was able to buy due to my allergies and now that lentil protein has been added to the recipe I am not longer able to buy any cheese products. You guys had a corner on the cheese market for so many people! Why cut out a group of people from your market base when the product was already perfect?

I used to LOVE this cheese. But recently, the recipe changed and I don’t like it anymore. I’m so sad that I have to find something different. Dairy free cheese options are limited enough, please bring back the old recipe!

We used to LOVE this product, BUT they decided to make it with lentil protein. Why change an already great product to one that contains an ingredient that some are allergic to? PLEASE RECONSIDER GOING BACK TO THE OLDER VERSION!

My heart just broke. These used to be our go to for my dairy and legume allergic toddler. I just picked up a new bag and am glad I glanced before opening. Lentil protein added now. JUST WHY….😭 legume proteins added to everything dairy-free these days and this was the one flavor we had that was safe. No more. I wish they would have left it alone.

Why was the recipe changed? Dearest VioLife, I live with your Mozzarella cheese! It was delicious until a few months ago when you changed the recipe! Why? The old recipe was so good especially for pizza and lasagna. Now it tastes like cardboard and when it melts smells funny and tastes unpleasantly. Please be so kind and bring back the old recipe! Thank you!

When I first found Violife, I was overjoyed by the possibilities that it finally brought back to my allergen-free kitchen! At the time, every other dairy-free cheese that I found contained pea or lentil protein, which I have severe allergies to. For years, this product has allowed me to experience so many of the foods and recipes that I've missed for so long! It goes without saying that I was absolutely devastated when I went to purchase more mozzarella today, only to find that the recipe has changed and now contains one of the allergens I need to avoid. It feels silly to say that I'm so sad over some dairy-free cheese, but the semblance of normalcy that I had grown so accustomed to was taken away from me with this recipe change, and it's a really horrible feeling to have to once again give up so many of the foods and recipes that I had been so excited to bring back to my diet. Please, please consider returning to the lentil-free ingredient list that so many of us loved (and depended upon!).

I love the Mozzarella shed and this plant based cheese is so delicious. It's smooth and tasty. I love it a lot. The package is beautiful and I hope they are available in more stores and decrease prices. I use it on top of salad, pasta, and bread. It's so so good!!!

Very unfortunate that they chose to mess with a great product by adding lentil protein. We will no longer be purchasing since we have a lentil allergy as well. This was one of the few vegan cheeses that did not contain a legume protein. I hope they change it back!

This has been my go to for years and now it doesn’t even melt after 3 minutes in the microwave. No one asked for lentils in their cheese. Please change it back to the original recipe asap.

I'm truly not one to leave reviews, but I opened a bag of the mozzarella shreds recently and was genuinely shocked by the unbelievably poor quality of what was inside. It was only afterwards I saw the "new and improved" label on the bag. It is not improved, it's horrible. I used to brag on this company's cheese products, and my partner- who is an eater of normal cheese- even found this stuff impressive. Before the formula change, Violife cheese was easily a 5/5 star rating. I used to eat like half of a bag while preparing whatever actual meal I was using the cheese for. This stuff is always almost in my fridge, along with the other Violife shredded cheese types. Well- now I will say 'was' because I'm not purchasing any more of this unless the formula changes back. I've read through the recent 1 & 2 star ratings since this formula change, and I agree wholeheartedly with them. The idea that some kind of panel/taste test group/etc. actually thought this change was a good idea- enough to roll it out and put it on she shelves- is inconceivable to me. It completely deteriorated the product.

this use to be my absolute only vegan cheese to get and even put other people on too. I used violige cheddar and mozzarella daily. The recipe or ingredients has CLEARLY changed and I HATE IT. It use to be perfect the way it was but with the color and even the texture it is not the same. I will no longer purchase this brand as the change has made a noticeable change in the taste and quaility.

It used to be good. Now they changed it once to make it taste worse and then added rowanberry and now I’m allergic. So sad my favorite fakes cheeses are all terrible now

I used to buy violife once a week as someone who has a nut allergy and is lactose intolerant. Loved the old formula, especially these cheese shreds! Unfortunately with a severe nut allergy, some folks like me also develop anaphylaxis to legumes like lentils, chickpeas, and peas. The new formula includes lentil protein, so sadly I cannot eat this anymore! The marketing team needs to make this known on the packaging, especially when marketing themselves as nut free. Just how companies like Beyond started writing this on their packaging. Thank god I read the ingredients before I went to purchase this past week!

Really disappointed with the new formula. This was my favorite vegan cheese for years and the new formula is not good and melts clear like plastic now! I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore unfortunately. It seems as everyone is disappointed with the new formula and wants Violife to go back to how it was. Read the recent reviews- they are all the same. Everyone wants the old recipe back. Listen to your loyal costumers please!

Tasted good but LORD the gas. i might as well had reg cheese. They must have changed their ingredients just like Daiya because I can’t stomach them or this anymore.

As everyone else has said, the new recipe is foul. I'm so sad, since I had just recently discovered Violife cheese and fell in love, only for the recipe to be changed and the product to be completely ruined. It truly tastes so bad. Why are these shreds so sour and dry?? I'm hoping with enough negative feedback they'll bring back the old recipe. It's also disappointing that these are now 100 calories per serving when it used to be 80. The only slight positive is that the flavor is a bit more tolerable when the cheese is melted. But it still tastes...off. I'm fully switching over to Chao cheese now.

Allergic to Lentils - now we have no cheese option for our child that has a list of allergies Ugh
