Great upgrade.
We've had our Vitamix for years and it is a workhorse. I recently decided to upgrade the carafe, as the old one was showing signs of wear after daily use for so many years. I expected to appreciate the new appearance, and I did - the new one is clear and looks it makes the entire blender feel new. But what I didn't expect is that this upgrade is easier to clean, and the slightly wider base and new blades makes the blending work more effectively. It seems faster, too.

Bad smell coming from underside of carafe
I have had my Vitamix (which I purchased as a reconditioned model) for approximately a year, and despite the fact that I clean it with soap and water after each use, the exterior of the carafe base (where the blades are mounted, but on the underside) has developed a horrible odor, like feces or garbage. I can't see any material trapped under the clear plastic of the carafe, and there does not seem to be any way to take the carafe base and blades off to clean it. I expect better from such an expensive appliance.

Disappointed
I have owned a vitamix blender for over 11 years. I have been a fan of the machine and highly recommend it to so many people over the years... I called today because I was grading cheese with it over the weekend and it got a huge hole on it and blew cheese everywhere.. I am so sad a out this because I have had no problem with the product. I am super disappointed when I called and they sad it is out of warranty and now I have to pay for a brand new one... I have been a loyal customer for years. I am very disappointed in there customer care and support...

Hi! We are sorry to hear of your experience. While the containers are made of a sturdy BPA-free Tritan, they can become damaged under certain circumstances. It is important to know when blending something like parmesan cheese, cut the cubes into about half inch chunks, as it is very hard and can crack the container if hit by the blades at the wrong angle.

Simple Review
The graticular scale or measuring lines would be better with some tinting or darkening - to make them distinct & easy to read. I would have also liked a cushioned handle vs. the hard plastic... for this price point.

Worth every cent.
Absolutely love the Vitamix X5. I have been a vitamix owner since the early 80’s … wow. This is over the top best one yet. I purchased with the 48 oz and ordered the 64 oz because I have a large family and cook A L O T! I used both and love how easy they are to clean. Love the clear top as well… I feel it is much easier to maintain and keep squeaky clean and sanitary. The blades are impressively sharp and deliver the most amazing end result every single time. I highly recommend the large canister if you cook a lot. I plan to add the other attachments in time as well. ENJOY!

Sturdy product but with troublesome lid
This is a replacement container for one that broke. The new plastic lid does not snap firmly onto the new container the way the old lid snapped onto the former container.

Perfect size for doing everything
This is the perfect size for making everything. It is better than the 48-ounce container…more versatile. However, I have trouble sometimes getting the lid to snap and seal before blending.

Nice doesn’t fit under standard upper cabinets
I do like the container. Although, I am not certain while they consider it Low Profile. My cupboards are standard height as most are within standard kitchens and this doesn’t come close to fitting under the cabinets. It does if sitting off of the Vitamix motor, but I don’t believe that was the, point. I didn’t expect to utilize it, or to remove the lid while it was under the cabinet. My only thought was that it would be squatty and be able to sit under the cabinets complete.

Longterm owner reviewing newer product
I purchased our first vitamix 14 years ago. I really like this low profile compared to our last carafe which did not fit under the counter. The design might be helping food to blend with less help of the tamper, but I’m not sure. I gave 4 stars, rather than 5, due to the lid. The older models had rubbery lids that gave a lid and were very durable. This is a harder plastic. This is brand new and I hope it holds up, but I don’t have as much faith in it and it’s slightly harder to apply and remove. This might get easier with use.

Vitamix fixed every annoying issue
I use my Vitamix daily and this is maybe my fourth or fifth container. Vitamix addressed every user issue with this model. It’s the best I’ve used and makes my 5200 motor more effective. I’m very impressed.
