Vornado Velocity 5R Space Heater: Indoor Electric Fan Heater, Programmable Timer, Remote Control, 1500W, ETL Listed

This heater is just like your furnace. Set the temperature you want and enjoy. I have bought two more for family and friends. Everyone likes this heater and the remote control that comes with it.

I bought this heater because of the remote control and the timer features, which are nice features. This heater does work well to heat a small room; however, it is very loud. On high speed, it sounds like a box fan that can be heard upstairs when it is on downstairs. On low speed it has a low tone thumping sound. It is too loud to be left on when going to sleep. I own two other Vornado heaters and they can barely be heard, even on high speed. While this heater works, it is too loud to be used as a bedroom heater as I intended.

I bought this to heat a small and sometimes coolish studio space. The area already had old electric wall heaters that could be used when needed, but I was worried about something catching on fire if too close. So I purchased the Vornado. I find that it warms the room quickly to whatever temp I set it at and I can place it in a safe area due to its portability. Probably uses less energy too. Yes, I would recommend.

It's the best heater I have ever had. It does a great job

I'm a fan of Vornado products, I own one desktop fan, and two large panel fans. I bought the 5R heater to help out this winter. It does what it's supposed to, but I would not recommend it. An oil filled radiant heater is a superior choice.. While during the daytime, I might like a warm 74*, but at night I'll turn the set temp to 66*. In this scenario, the Vornado 5R will shut off it's fan for about three minutes because the room temp is warmer than the set temp. Then the fan will spin up at HIGH speed for two seconds, then power down to LOW speed for six seconds and then turn off. So... HIGH, LOW, OFF every three or four minutes until the room cools enough for the SET temp to be reached, at which point it will power on and stay on continuously. This makes the product unsuitable for a bedroom where a person is trying to fall asleep.

I have a relatively large office with a high ceiling and the Velocity 5R very effectively heats the whole room with minimal white noise. I would enthusiastically recommend.

It looks great, but doesn’t work great. I had it right in front of me and it never got past 71*, so basically blew cool air no matter how much I played with it. It’s not like these things need an engineering degree to run them. Really disappointed. Back it goes.

Adds and maintains the needed extra warmth during extra cold weather. The remote is a great added feature.

The heater has a feature that blows hot air into the room till the room reaches the desired temperature. Unfortunately it fan is loud. But that is not the main problem. The noise is sudden and jarring and loudest when it first kicks in. Forget about staying asleep each time the thermostat initiates the next heat up routine. Is this a flaw of the design or of my unit or of the user interface? Other than that it heats well and heats up a room with warm air. It is pleasing to look at and to touch. But oh the noise! If you get turned on by the sound of commercial jets thrusting down the runway you will love this.

Here in Southern California natural gas prices have tripled. Having solar it made sense to use electric heater. After research I decided on the Vornado 5R. It has a small footprint. Does the job heating the room and it’s very portable with a well designed handle. So 5 stars.

The controls are very difficult to operate, and they don't always do what one would expect. When I called for help, I was instructed to reset the unit by punching a button on the bottom 10 times, an instruction that appears nowhere in the printed material that came with the unit. I was also instructed to shut it off by pulling the plug from the wall socket, which contradicts the instructions, which say the unit needs to cool down before stopping. Since the only way to get it to shut off is to pull the plug, I assume it will wear out sooner than it should. So, while it does warm the room adequately (although not to the temperature indicated on the unit), I'm not happy with it.

Awful. cold air blown, noisy .this does not work as a heater .

I use this heater when I don't need / want to heat up my whole house. I also use it in my RV when camping. Several great things about this heater: it heats up a room nicely, it's fairly small and easy to put away in a corner or under a table, it's got a remote (yay!), it's fairly quiet, nice safety features, 2 levels of power + fan only, you can set the temp you want. It doesn't get 5 stars because there's no tilt to the fan so it just points straight ahead. Also, it's not quiet when it's on high power, tho low power is quiet enough to sleep with. Overall a good heater and I recommend it.

I love this heater easy to store, warms my room fast on high and on low keeps the temperature just right. Also is pretty quite especially on low light weight and easy to store.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a powerful small heater! I noticed a huge difference in temperature just 10 minutes after running it compared to a much larger infrared heater. It's got 3 settings for low, high, and a fan. The high and fan settings are equally loud. It sounds the same as a typical fan on low/medium. When you walk past it, it feels like a slight breeze with warm air. It doesn't feel extremely hot coming out but it heats a room very well. As it starts up, the fan blows to adjust to the current room temperature. If you move it, the slightest tilt will cause it to shut off. It's a great safety feature. Turning it off starts a 20 second count down. You can bypass that by lifting it up and it'll automatically shut off. I would prefer to have a raised power button or a larger screen on top. It's a smooth surface and sometimes I have to tap the buttons twice because they're tiny. This isn't a problem on the remote because the buttons are raised. This heater is excellent and well worth using in any room.

I've bought the Vornado about a month ago. I've just have to turn it on for 10 min-ish and my room is warm. I was please to see that my power bill was not up to the roof :)

I don't run my heating system in the winter because I spend most of my time in one room. I purchased the Velocity 5R to heat the room. I have used other heaters to heat the room, but nothing comes close to the efficiency of the Velocity 5R. On high, the room temperature can go up ten degrees in about twenty minutes. In the winter, the room temperature in the morning is around sixty degrees. Before getting out of bed, I use my remote control to turn on the heater. I've never been happier with a heater. And the icing on the cake is it comes with a five-year warranty. I purchased the 3R for my 87-year-old Mom for Christmas. She loves it! You can't go wrong with Vornado products.

Its supposed to warm the room not cool it off. works so good the temperature went down 3 degrees in like 90 mins, the furnace actually kicked on.
