Sheds when washed. I purposely got this rug as I didn't like the rubber backed rugs when washed. The rubber backing held lots of dirt that left grime behind in washer. This rug despite being washed two times now still looks new, but it sheds. Anything washed with it will be covered in blue pieces. You will think the rug deteriorated in your washer, but will come out looking nice. I figured the first time was a fluke. I thought maybe it wasn't supposed to be washed. The tag does say it can be. It did the se thing the second time.
