Q&A(37)
Q: How prone to breaking are the ice makers?
A: This specific machine breaks for everyone it seems. Mine broke within 8 months since purchasing it, and other people who left reviews say theirs lasted anywhere between a few days to only a year.
submitted byihatewhirlpool - 2 years agoA: Mine broke in 6 days. It no longer senses that it's filled with water. And I didn't pay for extended warrantee because it cost the same amount as the unit itself! I feel ripped off all around.
submitted by - 7 months agoA: My first machine failed after about 2 yrs. The part that failed is a gear mechanism which lifts the tray up and opens the release gate to empty the ice into the storage bin. It's a common whichh fail.

Q: Do I add water or it needs to be connected to waterline?
A: You need to add water and this unit has a 2. 3 quart water tank capacity. It does not need to be connected to a waterline.
submitted byCustomer Care Team - 4 years agoBrand expertA: You do not need a water line- this has a resevoir that holds the water and makes the ice from there. You will need an electrical outlet though :-) Hope this helps!
