  • A: This specific machine breaks for everyone it seems. Mine broke within 8 months since purchasing it, and other people who left reviews say theirs lasted anywhere between a few days to only a year.

  • A: Mine broke in 6 days. It no longer senses that it's filled with water. And I didn't pay for extended warrantee because it cost the same amount as the unit itself! I feel ripped off all around.

  • A: My first machine failed after about 2 yrs. The part that failed is a gear mechanism which lifts the tray up and opens the release gate to empty the ice into the storage bin. It's a common whichh fail.

  • A: You do not need a water line- this has a resevoir that holds the water and makes the ice from there. You will need an electrical outlet though :-) Hope this helps!

  • A: Yes, you can keep this countertop ice maker powered on all day only if you need to make ice continuously. This unit only makes the ice but it won't keep the ice refrigerated. Therefore, if you are keeping the unit on all day to keep the ice refrigerated, it is not recommended.

Not worth it.

DO NOT PURCHASE!

DO NOT PURCHASE! Mine broke within 4months. I brought it back to Target, but they wouldn't help becuase the purchase was not under my account for some reason. I called five different numbers before I got ahold of a customer service team. They will not help with a replacement or repair part. Whirpool doesn't even make these!! They just let some crappy brand use their name. Waste of money and time!

Stopped working after 5 months

Worked good enough until it didn’t. It made ice fast. Was easy enough to clean. Ice cubes were perfect size but if you didn’t use them within a few hours they melted. Also the Trey didn’t fill completely before hitting the sensor. I wish it would lasted long for the price.

Ice Maker Doesn't Last

The ice maker only lasted for about 7 months and now it is not working at all. When we turn it on, it will not make any ice. The internal motor is not coming on and no ice is being made. The unit was loud at times and when the ice was made, it would make a loud banging noise as it fell into the bucket. For the price, you get ice for a few months and then the unit goes out. Not worth buying.

Waste of money

I've only had this for 6 months and this is the fourth time I have used it it is already malfunctioning. It's just making small little bits of ice that melt immediately I have it set to the large ice cubes I should have read the reviews before I purchased

As shown in the pictures I reached in to grab the plastic container not knowing that the ice has Freon still left and burnt my knuckles and now I have permanent scarring...

The compressor stopped cooling the unit when used on 06/14. I went to get the ice that was made and the gas/free on (a chemical that is used to to compress and chill components). Leaked compression fluid and burnt/ froze my knuckles.. if I need to get a doctor before I will do so but I'm looking for reimbursement.. please escalate this to your team cuz I'm providing photos of the injury

Very Convenient

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Whirpool Icemaker free for my honest review from Influenster. This is very helpful to use filtered water and create ice cubes. I just don't have a lot of counter space but this works very well for my needs. I just wish the ice cubes would be made faster.

Don't Buy

I got this as a Christmas gift 12/25/2024 it is now 5/18/2025 and it is done. It started building up this red film and ice started tasting like mildew. I turned it off and wiped the inside and sure enough it was milddew. It gets really loud after a while, which is annoying. The ice try stopped working and when its full it keeps making ice and it gets stuck. I would not buy this product.
