  • A: My first machine failed after about 2 yrs. The part that failed is a gear mechanism which lifts the tray up and opens the release gate to empty the ice into the storage bin. It's a common whichh fail.

  • A: You do not need a water line- this has a resevoir that holds the water and makes the ice from there. You will need an electrical outlet though :-) Hope this helps!

Don't buy this, breaks easily.

The water sensor in this stopped working after only a few uses. It would say to add water despite the water being full. In the manual it says to call their customer support for help. Whirlpool wanted me to call a 3rd party for repairs despite it only being a couple months out of warranty and limited use.

this is A NOISY loud.. clanky.. popping..BANGING..loud ice drop.. pow.. middle of the night.. heavy weight set up..water filler swooshing.. rattle.. shaky ... motor clinkest engine roaring ice maker I have EVER purchased. Poor quality control

1st one I bought was broken and had a missing bolt and sounded like a rattle can, got a replacement the next day and the replacement didn’t work. Poor quality control on this product. Almost feels like this ice maker isn’t actually made by whirlpool. It’s as if they just put the name for putting it negative10/10 would not recommend this product stay away from it even if it’s on clearance DONT BUY IT!!!!! Save yourself the headache

Horrible

Stopped working within a month. I bought to have the nugget ice and the ice doesnt stay frozen so I would transfer to my freezer and then takes forever to remake enough to full my glass.

Not worth it

Really liked it but it already broken. We got this in May and it’s only January…. I didn’t listen to the negative reviews but now I wish I did bc we’re left with no ice when we need it most.

DO NOT PURCHASE!

DO NOT PURCHASE! Mine broke within 4months. I brought it back to Target, but they wouldn't help becuase the purchase was not under my account for some reason. I called five different numbers before I got ahold of a customer service team. They will not help with a replacement or repair part. Whirpool doesn't even make these!! They just let some crappy brand use their name. Waste of money and time!

Stopped working after 5 months

Worked good enough until it didn’t. It made ice fast. Was easy enough to clean. Ice cubes were perfect size but if you didn’t use them within a few hours they melted. Also the Trey didn’t fill completely before hitting the sensor. I wish it would lasted long for the price.
