Worked great for a month.
I bought this ice maker because it was smaller than the others and we love the nugget ice. It worked great for the first month and in the last couple days, it would beep 3 times and then click. I researched to find that it's something wrong with the internal Pump, or motor issue, as well as an ice Jam. Very disappointed because it will need to be returned.

We’d like to provide you with some information about your Opal Mini sounds. This unit will beep when filling from the top and when the unit starts the ice making process after an idle period. The unit will beep intermittently as the ice melts and the water level in the lower reservoir rises. You can turn off the beep in the SmartHQ app by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner, going to the Product Settings, and then toggle off the Ice Bin Alert. Good but there are a couple issues
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Generally a good product. The ice is nice if you like small nuggets. It is a little noisier than I expected. My main grievance is with the door design. Water dripping out of the tray when getting ice is annoying and the thing they give you to collect it seems like an afterthought to a poor initial design.

Great Ice Nuggets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is noisy when running. The spoon is great idea but we had to bend the inside holder to get to hang on side. Capacity is good size. Nuggets in water do not melt quickly so that is great. So far so good and color was perfect match kitchen counter tile.

Didn’t work but a week without an issue

If you still have the unit, we'd like to help improve your experience. We recommend only using distilled water in your Opal to help reduce the potential for mineral buildup to resolve loud operation. It’s important to note that distilled water is different from bottled water, reverse osmosis water, filtered water, or spring water. All of these other options contain varying levels of minerals that can build up in the unit and impede optimal operation. Using distilled water reduces the frequency of descaling and cleaning. To resolve loud operation, we do recommend running a descaling cycle. It is recommended that you follow the instructions in the owner’s manual for your unit regarding the schedule of running descaling and sanitizing cycles. Using vinegar in the descaling cycle can help break up the minerals as well. It is recommended that there be at least 4” of clearance in the back, on both sides, and above the Opal to allow proper air flow so that the fan can move air about the unit.

Love nugget ice
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It makes allot of noise which is so weird because the bigger one I had didn't make any noise till it stopped working. The nugget ice is better I feel with the mini and doesn't melt as fast which i love. You do have to fill it up more but I love that the fill is on the top and you don't have to remove the ice bucket. Definitely if you have more than one or two people using get the larger one.

Big improvement over design of previous models.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It works geat. I used to have the Opal icemaker. It had a terrible design flaw in the upper water holding tank would stay full and was heated by the compressor under it. This caused mold to grow in the tank. The new design drains the water from the tank when machine is finished making ice. Problem solved

Selling used items as new
The ice maker arrived today, and I was so excited that I immediately took it out of the box. That’s where my excitement stopped. It was very clear that this item had been a used return. There were signs of previous use, and it was not in the condition I expected when purchasing a new item. I immediately called customer service, and they asked me to email the attached photos as proof that the item had been used. I was then told I could return it to the store and that a replacement would be sent to me. I returned the ice maker to the store, only to discover that my replacement order had been canceled. I called customer service again, and they explained that the store had issued me a refund, meaning I would now have to purchase the item again myself. Fine, but what a pain! What should have been a simple purchase turned into multiple customer service calls, a trip to the store, and having to reorder the item because I was sent a clearly used return in the first place. Hopefully, when my new ice maker arrives, it will actually be new and unused this time. Not another return that was sent back out to a customer.

Works great but too big
It could have been outstanding but the platform sticking out the front made it unsafe to sit on my counter. The app was finicky but I finally got it to work. Sadly though I returned it for the safety reasons listed. I really wish they would make a smaller version”Super-mini” version for just one person.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this ice maker because it uses a filter, so you can be sure it’s staying clean and won’t have mold issues; I had another one from a different brand that got full of mold and was impossible to clean, but this brand and machine are amazing! It gives you peace of mind knowing you’re consuming something clean and safe, though the only downside is that you’ll have to spend money periodically on filters and the cleaning powder.

Extremely Disappointed Regular Customer
I ordered this online because it was not available in store. When I opened up, the reservoir and the machine had water droplets in and around it. I called Target helpline. The lady that I spoke to was very nice and apologetic. She refunded my protection plan immediately. In addition, she gave me a gift card for my inconvenience. So I thought this was just a fluke and order the same one again from Target online. Just received it. Water in the reservoir again!!! I can't believe people who do use it and then return it. I called the Target helpline again. However, the tone was different. I told her that this was the second time in a week that I ordered this product and it had been obviously used. She didn't seemed to bothered rather indifferent to this situation. I expressed my frustration and disappointment since I'm a frequent Target customer. She refused to refund my protection plan until I returned the product, unlike the other representative that I talked not even a week ago. I did mention that last time I did get a gift card. So then she reluctantly did so. Target, you need to do better.

The Opal Mini has been a great addition to our kitchen. It makes good-quality nugget ice quickly and is simple to use. I also like that the smaller size doesn’t take up too much counter space. Overall, it does exactly what I wanted and I’ve been happy with it.

Crunchy Nugget Ice on Demand
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GE Profile Opal Mini is truly a breeze to setup. I love that it takes up limited counterspace, because we want to enjoy nugget ice, but we have very little room on our counters. There's no hose to connect, tou refill the top reservoir when the machine is dictates low water. The rest is automatic and fast! The ice is truly nugget shaped and crunchy! The ice everyone dreams of. We go through so much ice a day because everyone loves it. Even my husband who was reluctant. The only disadvantage is how much this machine leaks. The machine comes with a plate to but at the bottom to collect the water, but it's gross see water collect there, so you need to soak it up every time you pull the drawer out. Besides that I think the machine is easy and luxurious. I get crunchy Nugget Ice all day long and the machine does the rest. It even has a self-clean button when it's time to clean it. If you are considering a nugget ice machine, this is a really great quality machine.

The set up was quick and easy, and it started producing ice very quickly and without much hassle. The nugget ice comes out consistently and has great texture. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK, so I’m not going to add clutter to my countertops. I’m a very minimalist when it comes to that kind of stuff but I also love nugget ice. Like seriously I will go to Chick-fil-A just to get a drink with nugget ice. I will be the first to say this is actually worth it to put on your counter the minute we got it and unboxed it. It has been on nonstop since. The nugget ice is perfectly crunchy. The ice doesn’t freeze together. It is super fast. The tray fills up in around 10 minutes. It’s super user-friendly. I absolutely love this thing.
