Book Synopsis

After years of isolation on top of Hope Mountain, Ilsa Nordegren may finally be ready to leave. Raised to fear the world, Ilsa and her sisters never planned on coming down, but when the Warden family arrived in need, they had to help. And it may cost them everything.

Having made his fortune, Mitch Warden returned home and found the family homestead abandoned. In a land grab, a ruthless cattle baron had forced his family to escape up the mountain, and when he follows, the last thing he expects is to fall smitten to a black-haired woman who dresses like Robin Hood.

Warden is intent on helping his family reclaim their land, but doesn't realize the risks his past has brought. Dangerous men have tracked him, and rather than risk innocent lives, he's determined to end the danger. But that means a journey to the city--and when Ilsa insists on joining him, the mismatched pair suddenly find themselves on a venture they'll never forget.

I have come to expect fun and romance when I see a new Mary Connealy book and I certainly wasn't disappointed with Woman of Sunlight. This second book in the Brides of Hope Mountain series introduced another Nordegren sister and once again, I was drawn in by the tale of three sisters who had always lived on Hope Mountain and been warned by their grandparents to reject everything connected to modern civilization. Ilsa is the focus of Woman of Sunlight and she is a brave young woman who dresses like Robin Hood and swings from the treetops. As the book opens, she and her friend Mitch are recovering from chickenpox but this proves to be the least of their problems because they are soon involved in keeping Mitch safe from a would-be murderer. What follows is a lot of danger and adventure but oh, there is so much more. Ilsa leaves Hope Mountain with Mitch and sees and hears things that she's never experienced before. Lights in the houses, music like she's never heard, and people everywhere. She is even more surprised when they arrive in Chicago and she witnesses big city life. Food that she's never seen or tasted, coffee available all of the time, and clothes that make her look like a woman. Things that are so foreign to her and so common to all of us. I found myself laughing out loud as I read Connealy's description of Ilsa's reactions to civilization and I was caught up in the danger and adventure of trying to discover who is after Mitch. And then, there was the romance---romance as only Connealy can write! Mitch soon realizes that this 'wild child' has stolen his heart but is there a chance that she will ever feel the same about him? If you enjoy heart-warming romance, thrilling western adventure, and a story that will have you laughing out loud, look no more. Woman of Sunlight is just what you need! I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House. I positive review was not required and I am voluntarily sharing my thoughts.

I have long been a fan of Mary Connealy’s books. This series is different from her previous ones, but still keep me intrigued page after page. Woman of Sunlight is book 2 of Mary’s Brides of Hope Mountain series. It follows 3 sisters that have grown up very sheltered and away from other people. It focuses on Ilsa, she is such an interesting character- full of life, love of nature ,the woods and very stubborn. She finds herself annoyed with Mitch quite often. Mitch, finds himself just as agitated with Ilsa. The couple ends up having to trust and depend on one another. The innocence of Ilsa is sweet, yet she is so strong and protective. She struggles as Her faith in what she has been taught as truth waivers. Mitch does a great job in sharing God’s love and truth. The story twists and turns in unpredictable ways. Mary made me laugh out loud many times..especially at the things Ilsa would say. I enjoyed the strong characters and really am looking forward to the next book! Thank you Mary for sharing such an important truth (John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have ever lasting life) and the importance of faith. Wrapping it all Up with intrigue, itchy situations and a sweet love story. You won’t be disappointed in this great read!

I can’t possibly tell you how much I have been enjoying this series. Mary Connealy had me laughing out loud and giggling to myself more often than I’d like to admit. I absolutely love the Nordegren sisters and the Warden family. We first meet both families in Aiming For Love, the first book in the Brides of Hope Mountain series. This story follows Ilsa and Mitch as they try to discover who wants Mitch dead, no matter what the cost. Woman of Sunlight can easily be read as a stand alone, but you should read the first book because it was just as impossible to put down, and it will make you love Ilsa and Mitch all the more. Ilsa is the youngest Nordegren sister and completely unique. I’m talking loves climbing trees, knows nature, and is an amazing healer. She and her sisters have never left the sanctuary of their home on the mountain. When the Warden family shows up they are all terrified of what that could mean. Ilsa being the healer couldn’t leave them to suffer and thus begins the begrudging relationship between the two families. Ilsa and Mitch seemed to bump heads from the moment they met, and I loved watching their chemistry. Mitch is the oldest of the two Warden brothers and shows up later in the first book. Trouble followed him home no matter how careful he thought he was, and whoever is behind it needs to be stopped. Knowing Mitch has no choice but to head to a big city and find law enforcement there, Ilsa has little choice but to go along for the adventure. I loved seeing the world through Ilsa’s eyes. I couldn’t imagine going from being so secluded to seeing so many new things for the first time. Her and Mitch have to be one of my favorite couples to watch, and I dearly hope we get to see more of them in the next book in this series. I am already dying to read it! I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I've been awaiting the second book in the Brides of Hope Mountain series. This one did not disappoint. Mary Connealy writes witty, romantic fiction in every novel she writes. Ilsa Nordegren is a pixie-ish dynamo, picture a petite Scarlett Johansen with her mettle and defensive prowess as Black Widow. She pairs effortlessly with Mitch Warden who reminds me of another superhero whom I won't name. He's bold, yet caring, adventurous yet longs to be near his loving family. It's refreshing. These characters, the unbridled suspense placed in this novel with the strong line of faith mixed in as well are a home run. This novel can be read as a stand-alone, but read the first in the series, Aiming for Love, it's wonderful too. Another book's coming in this series, and I'll be impatiently waiting until it arrives : ) I received this book from the publisher but was under no obligation to write nor post a review.
