The waist has a string you can tie so they adjust to your body. These are linen pants so they are lightweight and very comfortable. My daughter needed these for a concert she was in and they were adorable with the top she wore. These would also be a great pair of work pants for those working women. The drawstring also allows for the waistband to be adjustable. They are a dark brown color which matches many tops. The fit is very stylish and current. The material is soft and durable. The material is not too thick and drapes nicely. I ordered a size medium and felt the pants fit true to size (I am normally a 6-8 in pants). My one concern is how wrinkly they might be after washing. Other than that the pants are great and I can easily see myself wearing them a lot. I wish they came in more colors! I received an incentive to write this review.
