Won't survive its first laundering

This sweater was incredible, until I washed it the first time. In cold water, gentle cycle, in its own garment bag. Then I laid it flat on a sweater mat to dry. Despite treating it like the acrylic princess it was, it now looks like a pilled, shabby mess. So I’m reluctantly returning it for refund.

This sweater has a good length, but it needs more body -it's too floppy and stretchy. I couldn't see being able to wear it unbuttoned, which is kind of the point of a cardigan. Also, the arms are oddly long. they came cuffed, but cover my whole hand if I don't roll them a second time. I bought several of these because the shape and look were what I was looking for, but ended up returning the rest after I'd worn one of them.
