Women's Long Sleeve Adaptive Button-Down Shirt - Universal Thread™

First off, read product descriptions and look at photos before buying things online. This is just good advice for everyone. If you can take a minute or two to write a review, you can take a minute or two to read the product description. It’ll save you time and frustration. The product description for this shirt clearly states that this shirt is “adaptive“, and then spells out that it is specifically for people who are in wheelchairs, or who are bed-bound and spend most of their time sitting or lying down. I don’t know how they could’ve been clearer. Next, I want to share that even though more than 90% of the clothes on Target are for able bodied people, they do produce a very, very small selection for us disabled folks. Like you, we need clothes, but unlike you, we may not be able to button up shirts (for example). Disabled people deserve clothing that works for us, which might require special adaptations (hence “adaptive clothing”) to make them work better for our specific needs. You know what we don’t need? A bunch of ding-dongs who can’t be bothered to read descriptions coming in and dragging down the rating of clothing that is not made for you. Not everything in the universe is made for the able-bodied person (just almost all—lucky you!). You have tons of options, don’t try to ruin our painfully few choices. When you rate it poorly it sells worse and things that sell poorly stop being made. Your bad reviews aren’t just an innocent mistake, it’s ignorance and ableist nonsense that further limits adaptive clothing availability. If you see “adaptive” in the description know what that means and keep scrolling if you don’t need/want those features. TARGET: please keep making adaptive clothing!! Please make more of it!! I’m a quadruple amputee (no hands or feet) and a wheelchair user who needs thoughtful and affordable adaptive clothing options. Clothing is a major barrier to my ability to participate in the world and life in general—I can’t go around naked! So I really appreciate having options designed for people like me. Your clothing is also about half the cost (or less) of most adaptive options—and my finances are extremely tight. Being able to shop at Target like I used to before this happened is appreciated. To do even better, get some disabled models! Representation matters, and maybe it’ll help people understand the target demographic. Signed, a disabled woman who needs specialized clothes

I'm a big woman, but this still looked boxy on me in an unflattering way. The fabric is okay, but the feature I don't like is the VELCRO on the lower half of the placket; I thought it would have buttons all the way down. I will be returning this item, which is unfortunate because I needed a lightweight jacket to take on vacation. Also, I need sleeves that aren't so narrow that they cannot be turned up or rolled up. Just an oddly fitting jacket. It's not good for me at all

I was looking for a linen shirt for summer, so I ordered this online. I like the feel of the fabric, but I’ll be returning it due to the length. The description says the shirt sits below the waist, but mine was much shorter than I expected. It looks way shorter on me than the pictures shown. I’m short, and it still has more of a boxy feel to it. I didn’t mind the Velcro on it under the buttons, but you would have to be precise if you’re wearing it as a “button up.”

Shirt was to big was supposed to be clearance online but was charged full price

The shirt is an OFF WHITE so it does look a little YELLOW very disappointing, the shirt isn’t a full “button down” shirt half way it has Velcro definitely shoudve been in the description.

I like the fit. Stylish. But I did feel it a bit itchy on the sleeve part.

Normally I never post reviews but I ordered these without realizing they have velcro instead of buttons. This may be off putting at first but for someone with severe arthritis and very weak hands: we need more of these shirts!!! I can imagine they’d be great for breastfeeding or any functional purpose! This is such a great option for people who want a button down but don’t or can’t deal with buttons very well.

This shirt is a fashion gem! The fabric is soft and comfortable. The closure is pure genius—buttons AND Velcro (in just the right place)! The colors are beautiful, muted neutrals, wearable with everything. I love it!

This shirt is very cute but it’s also itchy. The fabric feels cheap so even after 3 washes, it’s still itchy.

Perfect Chic and Comfortable Outfit. People are complaining about the “adaptiveness” ie velcro and elastic but it’s not like anyone sees it. It’s well done. Not cheap or scratchy. I wish this came in other colors! I love it!

The vico instead of buttons (front closure)

Target really thinks plus size means gargantuan wrists because they put elastic wrists on this shirt instead of normal buttons and cuffs. Apparently they think plus size women are incapable of using proper buttons because the bottom three don’t have button holes there is Velcro instead. The fact that the “normal” size shirt in this style is made like an actual shirt with normal buttons and wrist holes is extremely upsetting.

Cute and the “buttons” are super accommodating. This is an ADAPTIVE shirt y’all saying the buttons are odd. Read the description.

It’s really soft and comfortable but the buttons are fake and it’s velcro, which looks cheap if you ever plan to wear the top open

The shorts are the winner of this set. This is nice, looks better open but it’s really odd that the buttons are on different sizes and only 2 of them are true buttons, the bottom ones are Velcro
